Oris was founded in 1904 in the Swiss village of Hölstein. The company's name comes from Olsbach, a tributary of the Rhine River that flows nearby. In 2018, Oris celebrated the importance of water, which creates and sustains life, and released a new model inspired by the Rhine. The "Source of Life Limited Edition" is a diver's watch based on the Oris Aquis. The blue-gray dial, inspired by the color of the Rhine, features a circular disc displaying the date on a scale from 1 to 31. A white indicator that rotates around the inner ring once a month indicates the date. The watch is water resistant to 30 bar and features a gray unidirectional tungsten bezel with a minute scale for safely measuring diving time. The case back is engraved with a map of the Rhine River, which flows from Lake Tomasse in the Alps to the North Sea.
