Chanel Chanel

This fashion brand has its origins in the hat shop "Chanel Mode" opened by Gabrielle Chanel (commonly known as Coco Chanel) in Paris, France in 1910. During the First World War, when women were increasingly entering the workforce, Chanel introduced innovative styles such as shortening the length of dresses, which had previously been long and dragging, and incorporating materials typically used in men's clothing, such as jersey and tweed, which had a major impact on modern fashion.

In 1987, the company launched the Premiere, designed by Jacques Helleu, and began offering wristwatches in earnest. The Premiere features an octagonal case modeled after the Place Vendôme, a dial without indexes, and a crystal designed to resemble the bottle stopper of the perfume Chanel No. 5.

In 2000, Chanel released its first sports watch, the J12. Designed by Jacques Helleu, who also designed the Première, the J12 features the house's signature black case and bracelet made of in-house high-tech ceramic. The lineup expanded as an iconic watch, adding a white model in 2003, a tourbillon model in 2005, and a new "chromatic color" model in 2011. In 2019, the collection celebrated its 20th anniversary with a redesign based on the concept of "changing everything without changing anything." While retaining the basic design elements, the watch was equipped with the Caliber 12.1, manufactured by Kenissi, a company in which Chanel holds a stake.
