Ferdinand Adolph Lange, founder of A. Lange & Söhne and watchmaker (1815-75). Johann Lange was a court watchmaker in Dresden. He became the son-in-law of Friedrich Gutkes and took over the business. In 1845, he left Dresden and founded a watch company (later known as A. Lange & Söhne) in Glashütte.
