A wristwatch is a watch worn on the wrist. It is said that the first wristwatch was made in 1812 by Abraham-Louis Breguet for Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples. It is also said that wristwatches became more common after Girard-Perregaux delivered 2000 wristwatches to the German Emperor in 80. By 1930, wristwatches surpassed pocket watches in terms of shipment volume. Unlike pocket watches, wristwatches have evolved to protect the mechanism from shocks, the elements, and water. They quickly became popular in Japan, and the 1897 manga "Tosei Hyaku Idiots" already features an illustration of a man showing off his wristwatch.
