Watch Terminology Dictionary

This refers to computer-aided design, or computer-aided drawing (CAD). It began to be used by Swiss watchmakers in the mid-1980s. The spread of CAD and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), which directly inputs the resulting drawings into a CNC lathe, was one of the factors that led to the widespread use of precision, complicated watches.
