This watch brand was founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget. Originally an ébauche maker, it began producing luxury watches in the early 20th century. In the 1920s, it produced pocket watches using ultra-thin ébauches. In 57, it released the 2mm-thick manual-winding caliber 9P, and in 60, it released the 2.3mm-thick automatic caliber 12P. Since then, it has gained worldwide fame for its dress watches equipped with thin movements. In 88, it became part of the Vendôme Group (now the Richemont Group). Its signature products include the Polo and Altiplano.
