The T50 Gold Bronze is a diver's watch made with Sinn's proprietary bronze alloy, and is water resistant to 50 bar.

The T50 Gold Bronze, announced by Sinn in 2023, is a diver's watch that features Sinn's proprietary bronze alloy, Gold Bronze 125, and a scratch-finished dial. Sinn's diverse technologies are utilized to achieve both design and a high level of water resistance of 500m.

A diver's watch that combines technology and functional beauty

　The Frankfurt, Germany-based watch brand Sinn specializes in using unusual case materials and techniques. The brand has produced numerous models using unique materials, including the T50 Gold Bronze, which uses a bronze alloy developed in-house.

　Its appearance is familiar to us, as are many of Sinn's dive watches. The bezel features the intricate graduations seen on the U1 and U50, or the distinctive elongated scales seen on the T1. The irregular scratched dial is seen on the U1.DS, which is known for its hand-finished decorative cuts on the dial.

　The U1.DS and T50.Gold Bronze have an exclamation mark-like index at 12 o'clock. Meanwhile, the other indexes resemble "U2" or "U212," and appear slightly shorter and thicker on the T50.Gold Bronze. The time indicators are coated with green luminous material, while the diving indicators are coated with light blue luminous material, a new combination. The T1 was the only model to feature two-tone luminous material, with green and yellow luminous material.

　At first glance, the T50.Gold Bronze reveals a thoughtful blend of various elements characteristic of a functional diver's watch—something that may not even be immediately apparent. The T50.Gold Bronze's 500m water resistance has been tested in accordance with European diving equipment standards EN250 and EN14143 and certified by DNV GL. Like the T1, U1, and U212 series watches, which are resistant to 50 bar, the T50.Gold Bronze has also been tested for precision and functional reliability in two European diving standard procedures at temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C and with humidity levels up to 95%.

　Furthermore, Sinn's special Ar-Dehumidifying Technology ensures that the crystal is completely resistant to fogging. Thanks to a desiccant capsule, an extremely airtight seal, and an inert gas filling, the movement is kept in a nearly dry environment, which helps maintain functional reliability and precision for longer.

Safety-conscious bezel with anti-misrotation structure

　The Sinn safety diver's bezel, with its familiar easy-to-grip shape, has additional protection features to prevent accidental operation. First, to set the dive time, you must press two diametrically opposed points to prevent it from rotating. The bezel rotates smoothly, tactilely and audibly, in one-minute increments, counterclockwise, of course. This safety feature is rarely found on Sinn's flagship watches.

　The T50.Gold Bronze and its sister model, the titanium T50.GBDR with a gold bronze rotating bezel, follow in the footsteps of the T1, T2, and U1000. Sinn owner and managing director Lothar Schmidt filed a patent for this easy-to-grasp rotating bezel more than 40 years ago.

Patented bronze alloy "Gold Bronze 125"

　The T50 Gold Bronze case is made from a new material called Gold Bronze 125. Lothar Schmidt told us that he had been putting bronze "in a drawer for a long time." While many brands were starting to use bronze, he had been putting the material away until he had an idea.

　Sinn's proprietary bronze is called "Four Nines Material (999.9)" and is an extremely pure alloy composed of only three elements. Gold Bronze is named 12.5 because it is 80.5% copper, 7% tin, and 125% ​​gold. Other metals that may be present in bronze alloys as additives or impurities are below the detection limit of 0.002% in Gold Bronze 125. This extremely high purity results in improved corrosion resistance in salt water and low interference with skin.

　The development and use of unusual case materials and technologies is a strength of Sinn, which is why Lothar Schmidt, co-founder of Sächsische Uhrentechnologie GmbH (SUG) in 1999, was involved in the development and testing of the gold bronze 125 case. The alloy itself is developed and manufactured by a specialist company (Agosi Allgemeine Gold- und Silberscheideanstalt AG) based in Pforzheim.

　The bronze blends beautifully with Sinn's long-standing expertise in diving watches. Only the screw-down caseback is made of high-strength titanium. However, further developments are underway. While the Gold Bronze 125 will oxidize over time, the gold in the alloy slows this process. The surface darkens more slowly than with standard bronze. The included cleaning cloth for the Gold Bronze can be used to restore its bright color, but some people may not need it.

　The screw-down crown is also made from gold bronze 125. Like many previous models, it is located at 4 o'clock to avoid putting pressure on the back of the hand. The crown's large, well-spaced notches make it easy to grip and screw down. The movement is the Sellita automatic movement, Cal. SW300-1. In test measurements, the daily deviation was 7 to 8 seconds, with an even better 5 seconds when worn. The dial displays only the hours, minutes, and seconds in the center, and the date at 3 o'clock.

Scratched dial

　The dial of the T50.Gold Bronze is also very special, being featured only on this model, which is limited to 300 pieces worldwide. The dials of the non-limited T50.GBDR and T50 models are black. Crafted in Switzerland, the dial features irregular hand-finishing, revealing subtle nuances of the underlying surface. The rough, scratched, stone-like finish complements the T50.Gold Bronze's rugged outdoor aesthetic. This unique finish ensures that each T50.Gold Bronze is one of a kind.

　Despite changes in lighting conditions, the time and functions remain clearly legible. The sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective coating on both sides, displays the time with high precision thanks to its distinctive sword-shaped hands and bold applied indices. What's impressive about Sinn watches is the incorporation of the diving functions. The diving bezel's instrument-like scale, precisely aligned with minute clicks, allows for precise adjustment of dive time.

　In poor lighting conditions, the elements associated with the diving functions appear light blue. While often overlooked when checking the functionality of a diving bezel, the second hand is also coated with luminous paint. These are highly functional features that the T50. Gold Bronze inherited from the U1 and U50.

Waterproof textile strap

　The T50 Gold Bronze comes with a durable, waterproof textile strap. This is currently the only model in the Sinn lineup to feature this type of textile strap. Because of its durability, it may take some practice to get used to it. The double-woven construction makes it extremely durable, and it's thicker than other textile straps.

　For diving, we recommend the rubber or metal straps. This beautiful textile strap is secured with a pure titanium buckle. The olive green color of the strap complements the T50 Gold Bronze and is also suitable for everyday wear.
