A quick look at Louis Moinet's new watches for 2024!

Introducing the new Louis Moinet watches announced for 2024. These include "Around the World in 8 Days," a set of eight unique pieces featuring eight beautiful cities around the world on the dial; "Geopolis Opal," featuring 12 opals of varying shades on the dial; "Black Moon," featuring an actual lunar meteorite on the dial; and "Moon Tech," which uses lunar meteorite as well as materials actually used on Apollo 11.

　The "Around the World in 8 Days" model features eight of the world's most beautiful cities on its dial. This unique set of eight pieces is a must-have.

　Taking cities as its theme, the watch interprets each city as a living canvas, colored by the stories of thousands of people, a place where infinite energy converges, blending art, culture, and architectural technology, and this watch expresses that energy on its dial.

　The cities chosen include Paris, the birthplace of Louis Moinet, the watchmaker who founded the brand, as well as Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Tokyo, San Francisco, and New York. This lineup was selected by Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO and Creative Director of Louis Moinet, as the most beautiful cities he has traveled to.

　The dial, a distinctive feature of this piece, was created by GVA Cadrans, a company specializing in exquisite precision painting, engraving, and marquetry. Utilizing their expertise, the dial of this piece was crafted using a variety of materials, from rock crystal and aventurine to real historical pieces and high-tech materials.

　This model features a flying tourbillon at the 6 o'clock position. The Volteface mechanism, which stacks two barrels vertically, efficiently accommodates parts in a limited space while achieving a power reserve of approximately 96 hours.

　The set of eight watches is housed in a special trunk case, the exterior of which is adorned with the fleur-de-lis monogram, evocative of Louis Moinet's tradition and history.

"Geopolis Opal" is a unique piece featuring 12 opals.

　The Geopolis Opal watch, which brings out the charm of the iridescent opal, has been announced. This model features discs of opal in different shades on the dial. The base of the dial is made of jet black onyx, which brings out the opal's color.

　The movement is the hand-wound Cal. LM135, which has a flying tourbillon at 6 o'clock and a power reserve of approximately 96 hours.

"Black Moon" using actual lunar meteorites

The "Cosmic Art" collection has been expanded with the addition of the "Black Moon," featuring an actual lunar meteorite on its dial. This model features an aventurine dial reminiscent of a starry sky, with a domed disc set with a marble-gray lunar meteorite (Ghadamis 005) and a black lunar meteorite (Dhofar 457) surrounded by red aluminum in the center of the dial.

　The moon phase is displayed on a domed disc with a red-circled index at 3 o'clock, which is illuminated by a marble-grey lunar meteorite on full moon days and a black lunar meteorite on new moon days.

　The small seconds display is also distinctive. It features a small seconds index that displays only 30 seconds, and has two hands, one long and one short. These two hands tick off 30 seconds at a time to indicate 60 seconds.

　The case is made of grade 5 titanium, ensuring a lightweight feel. This model is limited to 60 pieces worldwide.

"Moon Tech" uses materials originally used on Apollo 11

　"Moon Tech" has been announced, using materials actually used in the Apollo 11 command module, Columbia. The material used is a yellow film called Kapton. This is a high-performance polyimide film that can withstand temperatures ranging from -269°C to +400°C, and was used to protect astronauts from heat. This work is a collector's item incorporating the unique material that returned to Earth after witnessing one of the greatest feats in human history.

　The center of the dial features a silicon wafer disc, whose surface's microstructure allows light to reflect and interfere with each other, adorned with a marble-gray lunar meteorite (Ghadames 005) and a black lunar meteorite (Dhofar 457), representing the moon. The disc rotates, revealing the lunar phase, with the marble-gray meteorite appearing on full moon days and the black meteorite reaching the 3 o'clock index on new moon days. The small seconds hand at 9 o'clock features two hands, one long and one short, each ticking 30 seconds to indicate the 60 seconds.

　The case is made of grade 5 titanium and only 11 pieces will be sold worldwide.
