　With the beauty of the "fluctuations" created by human hands and the perfection made possible by machines, where is timepieces headed?

"Whether it's gold or platinum, metals contain voids, and polishing the case risks bringing those voids back, so leading manufacturers have traditionally made cases by forging. Nowadays, the grain of the metal itself has become denser, and cutting machines have improved to the point where good cases can be made using cutting alone. Even so, the Acrivia cases, made using traditional methods by Jean-Pierre Hagmann, the craftsman who created the minute repeater for Patek Philippe's 150th anniversary, are by far the best."
