Cheating Takeyama is excited to get his hands on a 50th anniversary reissue model of the Casiotron, a watch made by the same generation as him!

Cheating Takeyama has been generating buzz with his purchase of a limited edition reissue of Casio's 50th anniversary "Casiotron." The original Casiotron, released in 1974, was the world's first model equipped with an auto-calendar, and was the foundation of Casio watches. Takeyama expressed his excitement about this watch, which was released by someone roughly the same generation as himself. In this installment of Celebrity Watch Hunting, we'll explore the timeless appeal of designs from half a century ago amid the Showa retro boom, while also introducing Cheating Takeyama and the limited edition reissue of the Casiotron he acquired.

On June 26, 2023, Cheating Takeyama appeared at the SoftBank vs. Rakuten game. Cheating Takeyama is a SoftBank Hawks fan.

Cheating Takeyama announced on his X that he had purchased a Casiotron on July 26, 2024. The post, which included the caption "I finally got my hands on a Casiotron, something I've always wanted. I'm 53, but I'm so excited," prompted numerous replies, including from Ariyoshi Hiroiki, who said, "Maybe I'll try that again," and from X users, with comments like, "They still have the Casiotron?" and "This retro, futuristic feel is really appealing." Combined with its unique appearance, the Casiotron seems to have resonated not only with watch enthusiasts, but also with Cheating Takeyama's wide fanbase.

Incidentally, Ariyoshi Hiroiki's comment "Maybe I'll copy him again" was made in reference to the fact that Takeyama had purchased a full metal G-SHOCK, which Ariyoshi also wanted, and later bought himself one. This was an episode from a trip the two took together to Hawaii. Incidentally, Ariyoshi initially recommended it to Takeyama, but after returning to Japan, Ariyoshi wanted it and bought one for himself.

A veteran comedian with 34 years of experience, he has gained popularity for his quick temper.

Cheating Takeyama is a veteran comedian with 34 years of experience. He rose to fame in the media for his character of properly losing his temper with adults. He is now known for his unique fashion sense and many hobbies, and is loved by many fellow comedians. It's clear from their interactions that he is also close friends with the aforementioned Ariyoshi Hiroiki.

Furthermore, his attitude of clearly stating his opinion on things he doesn't agree with and his drive to act remain the same. He doesn't just assert what comes to his mind, but speaks after actually listening to what is happening on the ground, so his comments are persuasive. This is probably why he is so popular with viewers.

His quick temper makes people mistakenly think he has a harsh personality, but in reality, he is very kind. When his wife lost her wedding ring, he didn't blame her, but bought her a matching one, and even went out to look for it by himself the next day. He is also known for his compassionate devotion to the son of his cheating partner, the late Nakajima Tadayuki, who he doted on as if he were his own child.

Limited edition reissue of the "Casiotron" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Casio's first wristwatch

The watch that Kanningu Takeyama purchased this time is a limited edition Casiotron reissue model, which was reproduced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of Casio's first wristwatch. It is a reproduction model using modern technology of the Casiotron, which was released in 1974 and featured the world's first auto-calendar function.

Based on the concept of a "fully automatic wristwatch," the Casiotron was equipped with the world's first (at the time) automatic calendar that could automatically distinguish between long and short months (months without 31 days), and is a model that has made its mark in history as the origin of Casio wristwatches.

This reissue model features a new function for receiving time-calibration radio waves from six stations around the world, as well as a Bluetooth mobile link function, allowing you to obtain accurate time information via your smartphone. It also features Tough Solar, and while retaining the look of the original model, it has been updated with modern features.

This special model, which thoroughly examined the original design and recreated it, including the size, while meeting modern quality standards, demonstrates the strong commitment of the creators. The case back is screwed down, and the center is made of glass. This is to improve the radio wave sensitivity of the built-in antenna. The logo on the original model has also been redesigned to commemorate the 50th anniversary.

The price of this model is also interesting, at 58,000 yen (excluding tax), the same as the original model. It was released in a limited run of 4000 units and has already sold out on the official online store, but it is one of the models that is likely to remain popular for a long time to come.

Timeless and exciting! The purity of Showa retro design

Cheating Takeyama is currently 53 years old, roughly the same age as the original Casiotron. Perhaps this is why he felt a strong affinity with the Casiotron, which was close to the year he was born.

As can be seen from the words, "I'm 53 years old, but I'm excited," there is something exciting about holding a masterpiece of excellent quality and design in your hands, regardless of age.

In the Reiwa era, where Showa retro is in the spotlight, the design that embodied the dreams of a digital society at the time certainly still has a timeless appeal. The simplicity of the design, which made the most of the latest technology at the time, still resonates with people of the current generation. Perhaps this is why sensitive celebrities can relate to it.
