Armin Strom unveiled the Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition at Geneva Watch Days as a new model for 2024. The Resonance is a complication that combines two completely independent movements in one watch, creating a fascinating spectacle of resonance. What's notable about this new model is that it's housed in a 39mm case.

Armin Strom "Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition" Ref.WG24-DT.90
Like all Armin Strom First Editions, it comes with a 10-year extended warranty. Manual winding (Cal. ARF22). 40 jewels. 25,200 vph. Power reserve approximately 42 hours. 18K White Gold case (diameter 39mm, thickness 9.05mm). Water resistant to 50m. Limited to 25 pieces worldwide. 24.2 million yen (estimated price including tax).

This symmetrical watch features an 18K white gold case and two sky blue dials with a grenade finish. Notably, each dial is completely independent and can be set to the minute for each time zone. Furthermore, the vertical arrangement of the two movements allows for a compact size of just 39mm in diameter.

Each dial features a night and day indicator engraved with the sun and moon at 6 o'clock, while the chapter ring surrounding the dial features polished baton-style indexes that complement the faceted hands.

The most distinctive feature of this watch is its resonance mechanism, in which the balance wheels of the two movements share an almost imperceptible vibration with each other, adjusting to each other in a natural resonance. This resonance cancels out the adverse effects on watch accuracy caused by gravity and wrist movement, further sharpening timekeeping accuracy.

Armin Strom

Armin Strom's Resonance system differs significantly from other brands in the way it transmits vibrations: it uses a patented suspension system called a "clutch spring" that not only instantly corrects but also prevents deviations in vibration rate caused by external factors such as arm movement, gravity, or temperature changes.

The movement is the newly designed Cal. ARF22. The two time displays, each with a separate gear train, can be adjusted using the crowns at 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock. The two barrels, which provide a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, can be wound using a single crown at 4 o'clock thanks to a ratchet click system, ensuring smooth energy transfer.

The transparent case back also allows the symmetrical construction of this watch to be admired, and when winding the crown, the unique drivetrain and twin barrels can be seen from both the dial and the case back.

In 2023, Armin Strom released the Masterpiece 1 Dual Time Resonance, a watch with two dials (right). This model has a power reserve of approximately 110 hours and an impressive oval case. Comparing them like this, you can see that each has its own distinct character, which really shows the appeal of the Armin Strom watch brand.
