What is the moon phase?
The moon phase, which reproduces the waxing and waning of the moon on the dial, is one of the most popular mechanisms in watches. Members of the editorial staff of the watch magazine Chronos Japan held a live YouTube broadcast on the subject of moon phases.
In preparation for this broadcast, we asked our readers to fill out a preliminary survey about moon phases. At the same time, we also solicited posts on X (formerly Twitter) using the hashtag "#AutumnWatchesSpeakingOfMoonPhase." This article contains an archive of the broadcast, which was based on questions received in the survey and social media posts.

This livestream will feature models that could not be shown with images, as well as the results of a pre-release survey on "Moon Phase Trends" conducted among webChronos readers. The survey and hashtag submission period was from 9:00 PM on October 23, 2024 to 11:59 PM on October 28.

"Other" responses that were not widely mentioned during the live stream included "Blue letters (are good)," "Gray," "Brown," "Green," "Dark colors are good," "It's hard to say," and "Any color is fine." There was also an opinion that "It's not about the color of the dial, but I think the kamaboko-shaped part that represents the crescent of the moon should be black or navy, not silver or gold. With silver, it looks like the full moon is hidden by clouds, not the crescent moon."
During the live broadcast, the Citizen Campanola models mentioned as "models reminiscent of the moon at sunrise" were the Moon Phase Akane and Kokiake.
