Introducing 5 carefully selected watches from Casio's new 2024 collection!

Casio Computer will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its watch business in 2024. The company offers a wide range of products, from collectible standard lines to high-end models packed with cutting-edge technology. Casio is a proud Japanese watch manufacturer that is popular not only with watch enthusiasts and G-SHOCK fans, but also with people of all ages and genders.

In 1983, the company launched G-SHOCK, which introduced new value to wristwatches, which had previously been precision instruments, by making them less likely to break. It became popular not only among those working in harsh environments but also among fashion-conscious young people, and has been enthusiastically embraced around the world. In 2017, the cumulative number of G-SHOCKs shipped worldwide surpassed the record of 1 million units, demonstrating its continued popularity to this day.

Over the past 50 years, Casio has developed and sold challenging watches, including G-SHOCK, and established its own unique style of watchmaking. In addition to digital watches, the company has also produced a number of excellent models, including the classic-style "Oceanus."

In 2024, Casio will release a reissue of its first wristwatch, the Casiotron, as well as a series of models commemorating the 50th anniversary. Here we introduce five new models for 2024 that will liven up the anniversary year.

Casio "G-SHOCK" Ref. MRG-B2100B

Casio G-SHOCK Ref. MRG-B2100B

Casio "G-SHOCK" Ref. MRG-B2100B-1AJR
Tough Solar. Approximately 18 months on a full charge (power save mode). Ti x Cobalion x 64 titanium case (49.5mm x 44.4mm, 13.6mm thick). 20 bar water resistance. 649,000 yen (tax included).

Casio's top-of-the-line G-SHOCK line, the MR-G collection, is a series that has established a new genre known as "luxury G-SHOCK" by combining the toughness of G-SHOCK with the highest quality exterior in G-SHOCK history.

The MRG-B2100B, released in June 2024, is the first model in the MR-G collection to be based on the slim 2100 series. With a three-hand display, a small date window, and only one subdial, it is the simplest product in the MR-G collection. This is a watch that stands out among the many large, multi-functional G-SHOCK models.

The design motif of this model is "kigumi," a traditional Japanese wooden construction technique. The three-dimensional dial has a sense of weight and dignity, exuding the dignity of a high-end model.

Not only is this dial exceptionally well-designed, but what's particularly noteworthy is that it generates and stores electricity by allowing light to pass through the countless tiny holes in the dial. Previously, light was passed through to the solar cell using a transparent resin, but by using light passing through the "holes," it was possible to use an opaque resin, which resulted in greater freedom in processing and decoration, thereby improving the quality of the dial. Packed with Casio's cutting-edge technology and ingenuity, this model is a must-have for both first-time luxury watch buyers and long-time G-SHOCK fans alike.

G-SHOCK MASTER OF G "Madmaster" Ref. GWG-B1000EC-1AJF

G-SHOCK MASTER OF G Mudmaster Ref. GWG-B1000EC-1AJF

G-SHOCK MASTER OF G "Madmaster" Ref. GWG-B1000EC-1AJF
Solar-powered quartz movement. Carbon fiber and stainless steel case (58.7mm x 52.1mm, 16.2mm thick). Water resistant to 20 bar. Price: 132,000 yen (tax included).

The "MASTER OF G" series is designed for professionals who continue to challenge the limits of three harsh environments: land, sea, and air. Among these, the "Mudmaster" is a shock-resistant watch that boasts durability that can withstand mud. The "MASTER OF G Mudmaster" Ref. GWG-B1000EC-1AJF featured in this article is also a model designed for use in harsh environments where rubble and earth and sand are piled up and scattered.

The watch features an analog dial that maintains visibility even in harsh environments, and a built-in Super Illuminator LED makes it easy to check the time even under strong light sources or at night.

In terms of functionality, it is equipped with a triple sensor that detects changes in direction, air pressure, altitude, and temperature, in addition to Bluetooth-equipped radio-controlled solar power, making it suitable for use in a variety of outdoor situations.

The design, featuring a black body and vivid emergency colors, expresses the worldview of professionals who take on tough and demanding missions such as rescue sites. It is not only a great companion for outdoor activities such as camping and mountain climbing, but also looks great as an accent for casual wear.

Casio "Full Metal" Ref. GMW-B5000D-2JF

Casio Full Metal Ref.GMW-B5000D-2JF

Casio "Full Metal" Ref. GMW-B5000D-2JF
Solar-powered quartz movement. Stainless steel case (49.3mm x 43.2mm, 13mm thick). Water resistant to 20 bar. Price: 84,700 yen (tax included).

The first G-SHOCK model was the DW-5000C, which was released in 1983. The GMW-B5000 series is a modern version of that first model, made entirely from metal while incorporating modern technology and the shock resistance that is characteristic of G-SHOCK. Since its release in 2018, the series has been receiving support from a wide range of users, not just G-SHOCK fans, and continues to expand in variety.

The new 2024 model we're featuring today, the Ref. GMW-B5000D-2JF, features a cool design with a metallic blue vapor deposition finish. The three-dimensional bezel, hairline finish on the top, and mirror-polished slopes create a stylish impression. This G-SHOCK can be worn by adults of all genders, from business casual to active styles.

The popularity of the Full Metal series isn't just due to its appearance, but also to its uniquely high functionality. Features like Tough Solar, time signal reception, and the Mobile Link function offer exceptional convenience for everyday use. The Mobile Link function is achieved by incorporating Bluetooth into the watch itself. Users can download the "CASIO WATCHES" app onto their smartphones and link the watch to their smartphones, allowing them to set the time, set the world time, and even find their phone from the watch.

This is a watch that can be recommended to casual users who want a watch, as well as watch enthusiasts who want a watch that is easy to wear.

Casio "Oceanus" Ref.OCW-SG1000ZE

Casio Oceanus Ref.OCW-SG1000ZE

Casio "Oceanus" Ref.OCW-SG1000ZE
Tough Solar. Runs for approximately 18 months on a full charge (in power save mode). Ti case (43mm diameter, 11.7mm thick). Water resistant to 10 bar. Limited to 350 pieces worldwide. 55 yen (tax included). Sold out on the official website.

"Oceanus" debuted in 2004. Named after "Oceanos," the god of the sea in Greek mythology, it is a popular series of elegant solar-powered radio-controlled watches.

Among these Oceanus models, the Ref. OCW-SG1000ZE is one of the "Zero to One" models released in October 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Casio's watch business. "Zero to One" is a commemorative model that embodies the company's development philosophy of "creating one from zero," inherited from Toshio Kashio, one of the founding family of Casio Computer Co., Ltd. Special models were released under a common design code from six brands: BABY-G, Oceanus, G-SHOCK, Casiotron, Edifice, and Pro Trek.

For this reason, this model also features a unified black and gold design, which is unusual for an Oceanus. However, its greatest highlight is the newly developed solar cell called Gallium Tough Solar. In collaboration with Sharp, the gallium compound used in JAXA's (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) solar cells was developed for wristwatches, and by incorporating it, power generation is highly efficient, generating electricity even with minimal light. This technology allows the watch to be solar-powered even with the slightest amount of light shining through the hollowed-out calendar disc, making it possible to use a metal dial for the first time in an Oceanus. The texture of the metal gives this watch a special feel.

As mentioned above, the design is unified in black and gold, but another noteworthy feature is the subtle inclusion of the blue that Oceanus has explored. The calendar disc is Oceanus blue, and the sapphire glass bezel, with its 48 facets, polarizes blue when the watch is tilted. This commemorative model allows you to experience Oceanus' 20-year history and innovative technology.

Casio "Casiotron" Ref. TRN-50ZE-1AJR

Casiotron TRN-50ZE-1AJR

Casio "Casiotron" Ref. TRN-50ZE-1AJR
Tough Solar. Runs for approximately 22 months on a full charge (in power save mode). Stainless steel case (42.7mm x 39.1mm, 12.3mm thick). Water resistant to 5 bar. Price: 77,000 yen (tax included). Sold out on the official website.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its watch business. To mark this milestone, in 2024, the company will reissue the Casiotron QW02, its first wristwatch released in 1974, creating a buzz among watch enthusiasts. The limited edition of 4000 units proved so popular that they quickly sold out.

The Casiotron Ref. TRN-50ZE-1AJR introduced this time is, like the Oceanus mentioned above, a special 50th anniversary model called "Zero to One." Based on the reissue model of the Casiotron QW02, it features a black and gold two-tone color scheme that evokes the "light of beginnings" that creates new value.

Casiotron developed the digital technology it had cultivated through its calculators and introduced the world's first automatic calendar function, becoming a pioneer of multi-function watches, a specialty of Casio.

The original's retro-futuristic design, size, and texture are faithfully recreated. However, the reissue model has been updated to a modern version with Casio's latest features, including Tough Solar, Mobile Link, and World Time functions. This watch embodies the spirit of Casio's unrelenting craftsmanship, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Casio's watch business.
