Kentaro Sakaguchi, who plays the lead role in "CODE - The Price of Wishes," wears an IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph, exuding a manly impression. Despite its highly legible dial and striking 43mm case size, it's only 14.8mm thin. It looks natural on the stylish, 183cm tall Sakaguchi's wrist. He will star in a Korean drama in 2024, expanding his global horizons, and the IWC worldview, boasting a simple, sturdy yet refined finish, perfectly matches his presence. The appeal of both watches, combining both hard and soft qualities, truly resonates with each other across time.

A detective suspense drama adapted from a popular Taiwanese novel into a Japanese version.

"CODE - The Price of Wishes" is a television drama that aired on Nippon Television's "Sunday Drama" slot from July to September 2023. It is based on the Taiwanese hit "CODE," but Yomiuri Television, which produced it, added many original elements to the Japanese version.
The story is about a detective who gets hold of CODE, a wish-matching app that grants wishes to strangers, and approaches the truth behind his fiance's death and the conspiracy that lurks behind CODE. Kentaro Sakaguchi plays the detective protagonist, wearing an IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph.

From model to actor, Kentaro Sakaguchi is expanding his horizons both at home and abroad
After four years as a model for men's magazines, Sakaguchi Kentaro began his acting career. His mother was also in a theater company, so the door to the world of acting may have been open to him from the start. In 2017, he won the Japan Academy Award for Best New Actor and the Elan d'or Award for Best Newcomer for his role in "64 - Rokuyon - Part 1/Part 2." He has appeared in Japanese historical dramas and morning drama series, and has been active in a wide range of fields, including commercials and stage productions, and is also expanding his horizons overseas.
In 2024, he starred in the Korean drama "What Comes After Love," which is being exclusively streamed in Japan on Amazon Prime Video. Incidentally, the drama has received a huge response, reaching number one in 103 countries, including the United States, Brazil, France, and the United Kingdom, and it seems that interest in Kentaro Sakaguchi is also skyrocketing worldwide. This winter, he also modeled for the Korean version of Uniqlo, delighting Korean fans.
IWC pilot's watches combine practicality and functional beauty
Now, let's return to the topic of IWC pilot watches. IWC offers a wide variety of pilot watches and is known for its wide range of options. The highly legible watches combine functional beauty and practicality with a military-inspired design that appeals to men.
Looking back at its history, IWC's pilot watches began in the mid-1930s. In 1949, they released the Mark 11, developed for the Royal Air Force. The performance for professional use has naturally been carried over to the current model, and its excellent magnetic resistance makes it extremely useful in everyday life as well.
Numerous practical functions housed in a striking 43mm case
The pilot's watch chronograph worn by Sakaguchi Kentaro in the film "CODE - The Price of Wishes" is a current model equipped with the Cal. 69385 movement and boasting a power reserve of approximately 46 hours. The small seconds hand at 6 o'clock is accented with a red hand. The case size is an impressive 43mm in diameter. In comparison, the case thickness is relatively modest at 14.8mm, which seems just right for the tall and stylish Sakaguchi Kentaro to wear. Its powerful yet elegant impression gives the wearer a fearless look.
This model also features day and date windows, a small second hand with a stopwatch function, and other features that make it easy to use in everyday life. Furthermore, the EasyX-CHANGE system allows for quick and easy replacement of the bracelet or strap.
The simple and sturdy IWC and Kentaro Sakaguchi, who combines hard and soft qualities, share a common charm
IWC products are known for their high level of perfection and thorough quality control. While the brand adheres to a simple and sturdy stance, it also boasts sophisticated designs and delicate finishes, which I think are similar to Kentaro Sakaguchi's own character, which combines strength of will and flexibility. What do you think?
It seems that what Sakaguchi Kentaro wants to challenge himself with in 2025 is "language." His first leading role in Korea made him realize the importance of "language" and how important it is to communicate a lot when creating a film. With the number of Japanese-Korean co-productions on the rise these days, we can't take our eyes off Sakaguchi Kentaro's future endeavors as he continues to demonstrate his presence as an international actor.
