Introducing Tudor's GMT watches!
Tudor, which re-entered the Japanese market in 2018 and quickly became one of the major brands, was founded by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex. The company has long garnered support by offering reliable timepieces at affordable prices, thanks to its robust ébauches housed in sturdy cases. Today, the company has established Kenissi, a subsidiary that designs and manufactures movements, dramatically improving the overall quality of both the interior and exterior, solidifying its reputation.
The core collection of modern Tudor is the Black Bay. While it is further subdivided by size, function, and design, the basic collection is a retro-design diver's watch with snowflake-shaped hands. Other models in the lineup include the modern diver's watch Pelagos, the simple tool watch Ranger, and the dressy 1926 and Tudor Royal.
Among these, the most popular are the models equipped with a GMT function, which are part of the Black Bay and Pelagos lineups. Based on diver's watches, they boast high water resistance, a silicon balance spring, a shock-resistant double-bearing balance cock, and a Kenissi movement with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. These models are known as exceptionally practical GMT watches. This article will introduce five of these models.
Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT, Ref. M7939G1A0NRU-0001
The Black Bay 58 is a collection inspired by the diver's watch Ref. 7924, which was born in 1958. It has gained popularity due to its compact 39mm case and wide variety of variations.
In 2024, the Black Bay 58 was joined by the Black Bay 58 GMT, which features a GMT function. This model is equipped with a newly developed, slim GMT movement. The hour hand can be operated independently, and it also features an instantaneous date change mechanism. Another attractive feature is the slim case, measuring just 12.8mm thick, making it easy to handle.
The black dial is paired with a two-tone black and burgundy aluminum bezel insert, and the gold-colored index edges and markings give it a vintage feel.
The strap is a rivet-type three-link stainless steel bracelet, and the buckle uses a unique fine-tuning mechanism called "T-fit," which allows you to adjust the wrist size without using tools.

This GMT watch, released in 2024, features a thin, compact case. The vintage-inspired coloring gives it a subdued impression. Automatic movement (Cal. MT5450-U). 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 65 hours. Stainless steel case (39mm diameter, 12.8mm thick). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 671,000 yen (tax included).
Tudor Black Bay GMT, Ref. M79830RB-0001
This GMT model from Tudor's flagship collection, the Black Bay, features a 41mm case that makes a bold statement. The black dial is paired with white luminous indices and hands, creating a high contrast that ensures excellent legibility. The hour, second, and GMT hands are all shaped like Tudor's signature snowflake. The GMT hand is painted red to prevent confusion with the other hands.
The bezel insert is a two-tone burgundy and blue design, nicknamed "Pepsi" by fans. It's made of aluminum, which has a more subdued finish than ceramic, so it doesn't look flashy. The case, which houses the Kenissi movement Cal. MT5652, is 14.6mm thick, giving it a solid, voluminous feel. It's also reassuring that, as part of the Black Bay collection, it's water resistant to 200m.
The bracelet is made of riveted stainless steel and features a double-lock buckle, making it safe to wear even in active situations.

It features a matte aluminum bezel insert in two colors: burgundy and blue. Its appeal lies not only in its GMT function but also its high water resistance. Automatic movement (Cal. MT5652). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (41mm diameter, 14.6mm thick). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 641,300 yen (tax included).
Tudor Black Bay Pro Ref. M79470-0001
This GMT watch features a fixed bezel made of solid stainless steel. This model embodies the adventurous spirit of the Royal Navy's Greenland Expedition, which began in 1952. Tudor provided the Oyster Prince for this expedition, proving its exceptional reliability.
The second time zone is read by a yellow GMT hand and a 24-hour display engraved directly into the bezel. What sets this watch apart from other Black Bay models isn't just its fixed bezel, but also its monoblock luminous ceramic hour markers and white edged hands, giving it a more tool-like design.
The case is 39mm in diameter, which is a relatively compact size. It is fitted with a rivet-type stainless steel bracelet and a "T-fit" buckle.
The movement is the same Caliber MT5652 as the Black Bay GMT. The hour hand can be moved independently, which is convenient when traveling abroad, and it boasts high precision as a COSC-certified chronometer.

This tool watch reflects Tudor's adventurous spirit. The slightly yellowish indices and faded yellow GMT hand give it a rugged yet retro feel. Automatic movement (Cal. MT5652). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (39mm diameter, 14.6mm thick). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 618,200 yen (tax included).
Tudor Black Bay GMT S&G Ref. M79833MN-0003
This is a variation model of the Black Bay GMT mentioned above. The basic design, specs, and movement are the same, but the change in color gives it a completely different impression.
The first thing that catches your eye is the two-tone black and brown bezel, which gives off a more mature and subdued impression than the burgundy and blue combination.
The "S&G" in the model name stands for stainless steel and gold. This model is adorned with gold accents throughout. The indexes, hand edging, scale, and logo are all gold, while the bezel and crown are finished with a 0.3mm thick yellow gold cap on a stainless steel base. Because it's not solid gold, the price is kept down, which is a nice touch.
The S&G's soft, warm colors are perfect for the fall and winter seasons. The versatile stainless steel bracelet is also appealing, but if you're planning on wearing it in the fall and winter, we highly recommend the leather strap.

This variation of the Black Bay GMT incorporates warm colors. It's available with a leather strap or a fabric strap for a more casual look. Automatic movement (Cal. MT5652). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (41mm diameter, 14.6mm thick). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 686,400 yen (tax included).
Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT "ZULU TIME" Ref. M2542G257NU-0002
The Pelagos FXD GMT was released as a new model in 2024. Unlike the vintage-style Black Bay, which was inspired by Tudor's past diver's watches, the Pelagos is a modern diver's watch collection with a titanium or carbon case and crown guard.
This model was developed in collaboration with the French Naval Aviation Corps, and the logo engraved on the case back is proof of this. The strap bar is integrated into the case, a design characteristic of the Pelagos FXD, highlighting its military watch origins. With a typical design, the spring bar can come loose if a strong force is applied, potentially causing the watch to fall off. However, with a design like this one, this doesn't happen. However, it's important to note that the number of straps that can be attached is limited.
The second time zone is read using an orange GMT hand and a 24-hour display on the bezel, which rotates in both directions, making it possible to display the time in up to three time zones.

The Pelagos FXD GMT "ZULU TIME" is a new model released in 2024. The titanium case with an integrated strap bar is finished with a satin finish, giving it the rugged impression of a military watch. Automatic movement (Cal. MT5652-U). 28 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 65 hours. Ti case (diameter 42mm, thickness 12.7mm). Water resistant to 200m. Priced at 663,300 yen (tax included).
