[Results Announcement] Readers' Choice Ranking of "Best Moon Phases"

The "Chronos Top 10 Watches Rankings," a regular feature of the Chronos Japan magazine, was launched in collaboration with readers. This time, we will announce the results of a survey conducted on the theme of "Best Moon Phase Watches." As this is a mechanism that evokes romance rather than practicality, the comments received along with the votes were also filled with romance.

The much anticipated results are announced!

The "Chronos Top 10 Watches Rankings" is a regular feature of the Japanese edition of Chronos. Each judge selects 10 recommended models based on a theme. From these, the top 10 are determined based on the number of votes. The reader rankings are created by having webChronos readers choose their number one from the top 10 and vote for them.

　This time, the theme is "Masterpiece Moon Phase." The moon phase, which reproduces the phases of the moon on the dial, is one of the most popular mechanisms due to its aesthetic appeal and romantic concept, although it is not very practical in modern times.

　The results of the votes cast between December 5th and December 11th, 2024, were tallied and the Top 10 rankings were published. In comparison with the rankings made by our judges, models who have risen in the rankings are marked with an upward arrow, models who have fallen in the rankings are marked with a downward arrow, and models who are tied are marked with a right arrow.

I was torn between Hermès and Arnold & Son, but I voted for H. Moser & Cie. I was attracted to the design, which has a unique feel and makes it easy to check the time.
- The hours and minutes have no index and cannot be read accurately, but the moon phase is displayed, which is romantic.
While most moon phase watches feature the moon on the dial, this watch does the opposite. The design, with only the hands resting on the night sky, is elegant and challenging, while still maintaining legibility.
- The moon phase is highlighted using only the bare minimum elements of a watch: the starry sky (aventurine dial), the moon, and the hands, giving you the satisfaction of thinking, "This is all I need."

The day/night disc, which moves independently of the moon, is outstanding. The time when the starry sky appears from day to night is the most beautiful. A genius idea.
-The elaborate design with the day/night disc underneath the moon disc is irresistible!
The beauty of the Lange 1 dial layout is enhanced by the addition of a moon phase with a day/night indicator! It's also poetic to be able to roughly tell the time by just looking at the day/night indicator on your wrist.
I like the subtle harmony that makes it seem as though the moon phase is merely one of the elements of the design. The bold design that makes the most of the moon phase has its own unique merit, but I feel that it is difficult to wear on a daily basis unless you have a strong emotional attachment to it.
-It blends naturally into the layout of the Lange 1 and doesn't feel out of place.
