Girard-Perregaux Announces the Final "Ver. 2.0"

Girard-Perregaux Newsboy Cap

Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0 Titanium & Gold'
This is the final model in the Casquette 2.0 series. It features a titanium replica of the stainless steel model previously sold, and the 18K KYG push buttons pay homage to the 18K GP model. This marks the fifth model, including the Only Watch and Saint Laurent models. Quartz movement (Cal. GP03980). Ti x 18K KYG case (42.40mm x 33.60mm, 14.64mm thick). Water resistant to 50m. Limited to 820 pieces worldwide. Sold out.

It's been just under three years since Girard-Perregaux revived the LED watch they sold in the 1970s. The Casquette 2.0, which has undergone a modern update and been upgraded to version 2.0, has already released its final edition.

The Casquette 2.0 Titanium & Gold, with 820 units sold worldwide, lives up to its name with a titanium case and bracelet and 18K yellow gold for the left and right push buttons. While the ceramic exterior of the first reissue, released in 2022, featured a finish reminiscent of the iconic Makrolon finish of the original model, this latest model incorporates ingenious touches reminiscent of the stainless steel model of the past. For example, the vertical satin finish on the head closely resembles the original, with the grain direction faithfully following that of the original. Furthermore, the color of the titanium has been made to resemble steel as closely as possible. Combined with the high standard of the exterior, you won't even realize it's titanium until you pick it up, and you'll be amazed at how light it is.

The exquisite exterior of the Casquette 2.0 Titanium & Gold is also evident from the case side. The polished and satin finishes are comparable to those of other collections such as the Laureato, and it's easy to see why it has been so popular despite its high price tag for an LED watch. The push buttons and logo are made of 18K yellow gold.

Following on from the first release, the bracelet is also impressive. The technique of hollowing out the links and inserting rubber remains intact. The comfortable feel on the skin and the appropriate amount of play in the links, combined with the lightweight design, ensure a high level of comfort. This model even includes a fine-tuning function.

Furthermore, all pre-orders for the watch have already sold out worldwide. This fact proves that the popularity of the Casquette 2.0 is considerable worldwide. In addition to this momentum, the newly developed movement for the LED watch cannot be reused in other collections, so it is hard to believe that this is truly the end of the series. Although the brand has declared this to be the "last," one can't help but look forward to future developments...that's how well-made the reissue series was.
