Introducing all of Rolex's current GMT-Master IIs!
The Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II (hereinafter referred to as GMT-Master II) is the successor to the GMT-Master collection.
The GMT-Master, which debuted in 1955 as the aviation industry was rapidly developing, was produced in response to a request from the US airline Pan American World Airways. Boasting excellent legibility and a GMT function that allows the GMT hand and rotating bezel to simultaneously display local time and a second time zone, it was not only adopted as the company's official watch but has also garnered high praise from general users.
The GMT-Master underwent subsequent improvements, including improvements to its water resistance and ease of operation, and its successor, the GMT-Master II, was released in 1982. The biggest change was that the local time hour hand could now be adjusted independently without stopping the second hand, making it possible for the GMT-Master II to display not only a second time zone, but also a third time zone.
Although the GMT Master has been discontinued, the GMT Master II is available in a wide range of colors and materials, making it a particularly colorful collection and a timepiece that stands out among the brand's lineup.
GMT-Master II Features
The current GMT-Master II's defining feature is, of course, its rotating bezel, which features a Cerachrom insert, a high-tech ceramic that is UV- and corrosion-resistant, giving it a polished finish and excellent scratch resistance.
Another notable feature is the two-tone Cerachrom insert, which distinguishes between day and night. It is available in a wide variety of color combinations, including the collection's signature red and blue, and these hues have given rise to various nicknames. This design is sure to have contributed greatly to the current popularity of the GMT-Master II.
GMT-Master II variants
Below, we will introduce some representative models in the current GMT-Master II lineup, sorted by the material used for the case.
Stainless steel model
Like all Rolex models, the stainless steel GMT-Master II is crafted from Oystersteel, a type of 904L steel also used in the aerospace and chemical industries, which gives the watch exceptional corrosion resistance and robustness.
Ref.126710BLNR

Automatic winding (Cal. 3285). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40mm). Water resistant to 100m.
The Ref. 126710BLNR is a stainless steel model affectionately nicknamed "Batman" due to its cool black and blue two-tone color scheme. The dial is black, and the GMT hand, dyed blue like the bezel, adds a cool accent to the look. Among the wide range of colors available for the GMT-Master II, this is one that can be worn both on and off the job.
The bracelet is available in two styles: a Jubilee bracelet and an Oyster bracelet. Both feature the patented Oysterlock clasp with safety catch to prevent accidental opening, and the Easylink (extension link) system allows for approximately 5mm of size adjustment at the clasp.
The movement is the Cal. 3285. Certified as a Superlative Chronometer, it boasts a precision of -2 to +2 seconds per day after casing, and the use of a blue Parachrom hairspring and high-performance Paraflex shock absorbers provides excellent magnetic resistance and stability. It also has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
This movement is used throughout the current GMT-Master II lineup.

Models with Oyster bracelets are also popular, a design code that has long been a best-seller. Automatic (Cal. 3285). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (40mm diameter). Water resistant to 100m.

Automatic winding (Cal. 3285). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 40mm). Water resistant to 100m.
This stainless steel model features a two-tone green and black finish. Its crown is located at 9 o'clock instead of 3 o'clock, making it a particularly noteworthy design. Its design, which seems to be geared towards left-handed people, has earned it the nickname "Lefty," and it attracted a lot of attention when it was released in 2022.
This model, like other models, uses the Cal. 3285, rotated 180 degrees, yet still meets Rolex's precision standards. Flipping the movement upside down is difficult to achieve due to the problem of positional error. Therefore, this model can be said to be a testament to the high level of Rolex's watchmaking technology.
As with the above models, the bracelet is available with either a Jubilee bracelet or an Oyster bracelet.
コンビモデル
At Rolex, the combination of 18K gold and Oystersteel is called "Rolesor," and has been used in various collections since the early 1930s. The current GMT-Master II is available in two Rolesor models: one made of 18K yellow gold and the other made of 18K Everose gold.

The Ref. 126713GRNR is a yellow Rolesor model released in 2023. Furthermore, it comes with an elegant Jubilee bracelet, giving it the elegance of a classic "combination model."

This Rolesor model is crafted in 18K Everose gold. This gold is Rolex's signature pink gold, known for its corrosion resistance and warm color tone, making it suitable for both men and women. This model features the same construction as the yellow Rolesor model mentioned above, with a black and brown Cerachrom insert on the bezel that harmonizes with the gold color. The overall watch exudes a subdued sensuality.
18K gold model
The GMT-Master II is also available in three 18K gold models: yellow, white, and Everose, some with special dials, ensuring a selection to satisfy even the most discerning watch enthusiast.

This model uses 18K yellow gold for the case and bracelet. Similar to the Rolesor model, the contrast between black and gold is striking, and the lustrous case creates a striking presence on the wrist. The use of yellow gold, the most common precious metal in wristwatches, makes this a watch perfectly suited to those seeking status and luxury.

Automatic winding (Cal. 3285). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. 18KWG case (40mm diameter). Water resistant to 100m.
