Hublot's New Releases for 2025① "Big Bang Meca-10"

Hublot released the Big Bang Meca-10 in 2016. Now, in 2025, 10 years after the original, Hublot has optimized the movement of this masterpiece and released the new Meca-10, combining King Gold, titanium, and frosted carbon in a compact 42mm case.

The original Meca-10, released in 2016, broke new ground in the watch industry with its unique design, featuring bridges attached to a ring-shaped baseplate. This innovation delivered both visual appeal and structural integrity. Now, Hublot has reinvented its unique take on a skeletonized manual-winding movement with an improved, open, and consistent display, while maintaining its signature architecture elevated with sophisticated finishing and decoration.

Hublot's Challenge

Big Bang Mecha-10

Hublot once again demonstrates its originality with a contemporary reinterpretation of the mechanical watch movement. Without a traditional dial, the Meca-10 makes visible and aesthetically revealing what is usually hidden. Inspired by the Meccanotype structural system, the Meca-10 is a masterclass in micromechanical engineering, a creative exploration of how we perceive machines and the movement of time itself. Layer by layer, like a building constructed from bricks, the Meca-10 offers something to discover from every angle, and their interrelationships create a dynamic choreography.

The challenge for Hublot's engineers and watchmakers was to maintain the originality of the Meca-10 while reducing its size to fit into the Big Bang's 42mm case without compromising its performance.

The new Meca-10, which features numerous advancements, is clearly different from its predecessor, with three linear bridges attached to the baseplate. The bridges are adorned with satin-brushed surfaces and hand-polished chamfers, further elevating this avant-garde and unusual movement as a piece of Haute Horlogerie. Available in three different versions – King Gold, Titanium, and Frosted Carbon – the movement is galvanically finished to match the 18K gold, metallic gray, or black case, respectively.

Big Bang Mecha-10

A distinctive power reserve indicator

As its name suggests, the Meca-10 boasts an impressive power reserve of approximately 10 days, but what sets this model apart is the way the power reserve is displayed.

Big Bang Mecha-10

Powered by two mainspring barrels, the movement's energy level is read off a digital display showing the remaining power reserve. These displays are driven by a "Cremaille" rack system, rarely seen in mechanical watches, in which a linear gear meshes with a circular one.

Big Bang Mecha-10

A closer look at this mechanism reveals that it is deceptively delicate. Two overlapping disks rotate in opposite directions and are connected by a spiral spring that winds up in the center, just like a barrel spring. The result is a truly remarkable differential display that can be read intuitively. In fact, the Meca-10's power reserve exceeds 10 days, but the display is limited to the 10-day limit of optimal performance for a chronometer, a testament to its precision. This new, ingenious manual winding system ensures perfect synchronization between the power reserve display and the optimal winding level of the barrel spring.

The balance is positioned on the dial side of the movement, making it fully visible. This not only provides a constant flow of movement to the display surface, but also highlights Hublot's patented fine-regulation mechanism. The regulator is fitted with a lubricant-free silicon escape wheel. For precise timekeeping, the new Meca-10 is equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism.

Ergonomic proportions

Big Bang Mecha-10

The Big Bang Meca-10's 42mm case is ergonomically proportioned while maintaining a familiar silhouette. The King Gold and Titanium versions feature the Big Bang's signature satin-finished and polished chamfers. A Frosted Carbon model marks the first time the Big Bang has been added to the Core Collection. Unlike multi-layered carbon fiber sheets, Frosted Carbon has no set pattern, resulting in a unique appearance for each case.

The Big Bang Meca-10 42mm also features the patented "One Click" system built into the case, allowing for easy strap changes.

Hublot's 2025 New Release ② "Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM"

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM

Even after mastering the art of crafting both cases and movements out of sapphire crystal and understanding the wide range of colors it can emit, there are still limits to the hues and depths that sapphire can achieve. To create a transparent material that is as green as an emerald, Hublot and its team of researchers and metallurgists had to look elsewhere. The answer came in the form of a material far removed from the world of watchmaking: SAXEM (short for Sapphire Aluminum oxide and rare Earth Mineral).

A pioneer in groundbreaking material innovation, Hublot and its Manufacture's Metallurgy and Materials Laboratory have mastered the complex techniques of transparent materials such as sapphire crystal. Always striving for new creativity, Hublot is the first and only watch brand to use SAXEM, a material similar to sapphire but with greater brilliance and color possibilities. Now, Hublot is announcing the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM, a limited edition of just 18 pieces worldwide, featuring a deep emerald green transparent case and an automatic tourbillon movement.

Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM Ref.429.JG.0110.RT
Automatic movement (Cal. HUB6035). 26 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. Green SAXEM case (44mm diameter, 14.4mm thick). Smoke black sapphire crystal dial. Water resistant to 30m. Limited to 18 pieces worldwide. Price: 31,647,000 yen (tax included).

SAXEM shares many of the same properties as sapphire crystal, including hardness and transparency, but they differ at the molecular level. While both are made from aluminum oxide, SAXEM is bonded with rare earth elements. Structurally, they are also different: sapphire is trigonal (three-sided), while SAXEM is cubic (tetrahedral). This subtle yet important difference gives SAXEM its intense color and sparkles like a precious stone.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM

Housed in a vibrant, crystal-green SAXEM case, Hublot's automatic tourbillon caliber HUB6035 is entirely developed and manufactured in-house. Its modern design features a 22K gold micro-rotor positioned on the dial side of the movement. It also features ceramic ball bearings for smooth and efficient winding.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM

The watch boasts a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, ensuring high precision. The movement of the micro-rotor at 12 o'clock is complemented by a 60-second tourbillon cage at 6 o'clock. Three functional sapphire components - the barrel bridge, the automatic winding gear bridge and the tourbillon bar - highlight this open structure. The Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM features an even darker dial.

Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM

The movement itself, visible through the open dial, is finished in a primarily black color, creating a striking contrast with the SAXEM case and matching the crown. To enhance legibility, the Big Bang's distinctive Arabic numerals and baton indexes are painted a vibrant green with Super-LumiNova, and the hands have the same finish. Sandblasting, hand-polished bevels, and sunray finishing elevate this modern and unique watch to the pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie.

As a perfect finishing touch to match the case, the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM is fitted with a see-through green rubber strap with a black folding clasp.
