Hirokane's signature series, "Shima Kosaku," features several episodes involving watches. One of the most notable is the story of when Nakazawa Kiichi, the boss respected by the protagonist Shima Kosaku, becomes president. Nakazawa will now be working as the face of the company, and Oizumi Yusuke, the previous president, gave him a Corum watch, saying that he should dress appropriately for his position.

The manga also attracted attention when it was published in collaboration with Girard-Perregaux when the main character, Kosaku Shima, became president. Hirokane, who writes works that evoke a strong connection with watches, owns a variety of timepieces, including a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date, a Cartier Tortue, a Girard-Perregaux 1945 Big Date, and a Franck Muller, all of which have a well-worn character.

Professor Hirokane calls these four watches his "buddies" and continues to wear them with care. He wears his watches even when sleeping, except when taking a bath, and his view of timepieces is a must-see.
