Many people have been wondering what this G-SHOCK, made with recycled resin, actually looks like, given the unique patterns on the case and strap. Martin Green, an editor and writer for the US edition of WatchTime, actually tried it on and checked it out. As of March 5, 2025, this model is in limited stock, and only the current market supply is available. If you want one, hurry to the store!

A unique "2024" model announced around the time of G-SHOCK's birthday
G-SHOCK's birthday is April 12th. I believe that every year around this memorable birthday, Casio releases a uniquely designed G-SHOCK. However, these models are not overly edgy. They are unique models that are true to the G-SHOCK philosophy and take a down-to-earth approach. The Ref. G5600BG-1JR is a good example of this, a model that stays true to the brand's philosophy of durability, functionality, and affordability.

Currently only available in stock. Quartz movement. Resin case (46.7mm x 43.2mm, 12.7mm thick). Water resistant to 20 bar. 19,800 yen (tax included).
Recycled materials that make you feel festive
The Ref. G5600BG-1JR appears to be identical to other 5600 series models with square cases, except for one thing: the case and strap. The case and strap feature a yellow or red marbled pattern on a black base color. This pattern was achieved by mixing discarded resin with new black urethane.

The black urethane gives a rugged impression, and the pop marble pattern looks like colorful paint has been dripped onto it. This marble pattern is different for each individual unit, adding a playful touch.

Let's take a look at the good points of this model. First of all, the marble pattern is eye-catching. It's rare to find a watch like this, right? And surprisingly, when you actually wear it, it makes you feel glamorous, which is a great thing.
Monochrome models are also available in the lineup.
If you're looking for a similar marbled G-SHOCK in monochrome, there's the Ref. G-5600SRF-1JR, a limited edition model created in collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation, which works to protect oceans.

Quartz movement. Resin case (46.7mm x 43.2mm, 12.7mm thick). Water resistant to 20 bar. Sold out model. Release price: 19,800 yen (tax included).
G-SHOCK will never let you down
The Ref. G5600BG-1JR is a watch that lives up to expectations. It's solar-powered, and the instruction manual states that once fully charged, it will operate for approximately 12 months without exposure to light. Unless you store it away, it's unlikely to last a year without light. It's amazing how well the G-SHOCK movement can adjust its energy, allowing it to continue functioning for such a long period of time.
The case is only 12.7mm thick, and most of that thickness is for impact resistance, so the built-in battery itself isn't that big. That means it can run for a long time on a small battery.
A "natural" multi-function movement due to the digital nature of the watch
As you'd expect from a G-SHOCK digital watch, the watch's functionality is diverse and powerful. It's equipped with a wide range of features, including a stopwatch that can measure time to hundredths of a second, five daily alarms, a perpetual calendar programmable up to 2099, and an LED backlight. It's also water resistant to 20 bar and weighs just 37g (measured). It's incredibly comfortable to wear.
Conclusion: You can't go wrong with G-SHOCK
Even though it can be purchased for under 2 yen, this watch is worth more than its price. What's more, I'm pleased that it's a product that boasts the unmistakable, reliable quality of G-SHOCK. G-SHOCK designs are surprisingly diverse. The Ref. G5600BG-1JR, made with recycled resin, has been added to this collection. And what makes me most happy is that this model remains faithful to the philosophy that G-SHOCK has upheld since its inception.
