Introducing all of Citizen's new watches for 2025!

2025.04.08

Here's a look at the new watches Citizen has announced for 2025. From The Citizen, which features an even more original dial, to the Eco-Drive One and XC, which feature the new Duratect "Amber Yellow" exterior, this year's lineup is diverse and appealing.

"The Citizen" with a metallic dial

Two new models with metallic dials have been announced for The Citizen, which is equipped with Eco-Drive. The movement is the light-powered Eco-Drive Cal. A060. Many previous models have used materials such as polycarbonate and washi paper to allow light to pass through the dial. However, it has been difficult to use materials like metal, which block and reflect light.

The dial of this model is made of polycarbonate with a painted finish to recreate a metallic texture. Two models are available: silver and black, both featuring a dynamic eagle feather pattern. This model follows the limited edition Ref. AQ4100-57M, which will be released in 2024 and features a blue metallic dial, and both models will become part of the regular lineup.

The Cal. A060 movement, which has been used in many models to date, boasts high accuracy of ±5 seconds per year. The case is made of Citizen's proprietary Super Titanium, ensuring a light and comfortable fit. The surface is also coated with Duratect Platinum for increased scratch resistance.

"The Citizen" 30th anniversary model also released

Citizen "The Citizen"

The Citizen, which was launched in 1995 as "a watch that accompanies you through life," is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and to commemorate this, two limited edition models have been added to the Iconic Nature Collection. Inspired by the delicate Japanese sensibility of using the word "okashi" to describe moving events, such as landscapes that people find beautiful in their daily lives or the changing of the seasons, as seen in Japanese classics, the collection features models that depict the charm of nature on washi paper dials with a "blurred" or "faded" effect.

Both models feature titanium cases and the colors of the Duratect surface hardening technology and dials are designed to express the scenery of Japan's four seasons. The Ref. AQ4106-00A, finished with Duratect Sakura Pink, is based on the theme of "Scenes at Dawn in Spring," with the dial depicting soft clouds drifting in the early morning light as the sun shines brightly. The colors, resembling both the sky and cherry blossoms, are applied to Unryu paper, which has a unique pattern made from long fibers, adding a touch of character.

The Ref. AQ4100-22L, with Duratect Platinum, is based on the theme of "Summer Night Scenes," and depicts the moonlight reflected on the surface of a river by layering a gradation of indigo-dyed Japanese paper in a striking Japan Blue. The gold-colored second hand, reminiscent of the trail of light from fireflies flying along the riverbank, captures the tranquility of a summer night in its design.

Citizen "Eco-Drive One"

Two new color models have been added to the ultra-thin Eco-Drive One, which is equipped with the Eco-Drive movement Cal. 8845, which is just 1mm thick, and has a finished watch thickness of just 4.5mm. Both models feature stainless steel cases treated with Duratect, a surface hardening technology that enhances scratch resistance, and are finished in a new amber yellow color that matches the classic dial design with a small second hand.

The overall styling combines a dark gray ceramic bezel with a hairline finish and a case with accentuated octagonal edges, with edgy push buttons and button guards that echo the case design.

Citizen ACT Line

The Cal. F950 movement is Citizen's top-of-the-line Eco-Drive GPS satellite-wave watch, achieving the world's fastest time accuracy of just 3 seconds for an analog light-powered GPS satellite watch when receiving time information alone. Not only can it accurately adjust the time even in different time zones, but its rich functionality, including dual time display, chronograph function, alarm, and perpetual calendar, are also part of its appeal.

A three-hand model has also been added, sharing the same design image. The simple display and thick hour and minute hands improve visibility, and the automatic time correction function via radio wave reception and perpetual calendar make this a highly practical model.

The watch is equipped with a helium escape valve for saturation diving, and the case diameter is 46.0mm and thickness is 16.3mm to withstand high water pressure. Two colors, black and red, are available for release, both with a gradation that becomes darker towards the 6 o'clock position, evoking the deep sea.

This collaboration model was born from the shared desire between Abarth and Citizen to create a watch that is both practical and emotional for today's world. The base model is the Series Eight 870 Mechanical, and it features "double magnetic resistance," meaning that it can maintain its performance in most cases even when brought within 1cm of a magnetic device such as a smartphone.

The dial of this collaboration model is made of carbon, an essential material for modern sports cars, with a design that highlights its woven texture. The second scale and second hand are red, reminiscent of cockpit meters, and a scorpion emblem is placed at the 6 o'clock position. The case and bracelet are a dark gray that complements the carbon dial, giving the overall look a sporty look, and the Abarth emblem is also featured on the case back. This model will be limited to 150 pieces worldwide.

Also noteworthy is the silver-colored indexes and hour and minute hands, which give the watch a more refined look.

The other model depicts the moon floating in a pitch-black night sky. New "Cross Sea" products designed for people with metal allergies

Citizen "Xrossea Hikari Collection Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch Titania Happy Flight"

A new product has been announced for the "Xrossea Hikari Collection," which uses the new color "Duratect Amber Yellow" (hereinafter "Amber Yellow"), a new color for the Duratect surface hardening technology. While regular gold plating uses nickel, which can cause allergies, Amber Yellow does not use nickel, and instead achieves the gold color using a niobium-titanium alloy.

Citizen "Xrossea Hikari Collection Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch Titania Happy Flight" Ref. ES9492-57D

Citizen "Xrossea Hikari Collection Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch Titania Happy Flight" Ref. ES9492-57D
Light-powered Eco-Drive (Cal. H060). Runs for approximately 3 years on a full charge (in power save mode). Ti case (diameter 27.0 mm, thickness 8.2 mm). Water resistant to 5 bar. Price: 90,900 yen (tax included).

The name Amber Yellow comes from amber, which is fossilized tree sap, and symbolizes its gentleness on the skin, high hardness, and beautiful appearance. Just like amber, which takes many years to form, the name was created with the hope that "you will grow to love it with years of use."

Duratect's hardness is increased by layering multiple layers on top of the material, creating a unique color. The manufacturing conditions have been adjusted to create an amber yellow color that blends well with the skin and is a subdued gold color that can be easily matched to a variety of scenes, creating a classical atmosphere that differs from the image of traditional gold. Furthermore, amber yellow boasts the highest level of hardness among Duratect materials, achieving approximately 10 to 20 times the scratch resistance of regular gold plating.

The new model features a design that brings out the charm of amber yellow. It features a slender bezel inspired by a halo of light and a glossy mother-of-pearl dial. The indexes at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock feature three-dimensional round and diamond-shaped cut parts, and the crystal is engraved with a "milgrain ring" that resembles grains of light, expressing the gentle spread of light that shines through.

New "Cross Sea" watch with a lustrous white mother-of-pearl and silver case

Citizen "Xrossea Hikari Collection Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch Titania Happy Flight"

The lineup also includes new models that share the same design as the amber yellow model. The thin bezel, a feature of the hikari collection, is inspired by a ring of light, with three-dimensional indices at 12, 6, and 9 o'clock to express the spreading of light. The crystal is engraved with a "milgrain ring" that resembles grains of light, and together with the white mother-of-pearl dial, this model's unique design incorporates the changing appearance of its appearance with light. The case is also made of Duratect Platinum, giving it a bright and shining silver color.
