New variations of Luminox's Atacama Field 1960 watch have been released
It's hard to imagine a place where it doesn't rain for decades, but it does exist. The Atacama Desert, which straddles Peru and Chile, is one of the driest regions on Earth. Luminox has named its field watch series after this desert, the Atacama Field line, designed for use in extreme environments. A new color variation, the Atacama Field 1960, has now been added to the lineup.

Quartz (Ronda Cal. 515). Stainless steel case (43mm diameter, 13mm thick). Water resistant to 100m. Price: 88,810 yen.
The warm gray dial's sandy texture, inspired by the stark desert landscape, creates a strong contrast with the black hands and indexes. Luminox's proprietary Luminox Light Technology (LLT) ensures readability even in the dark. Eleven of the hands and hour markers glow green, while the index at 12 o'clock and the hour and minute hands glow bright orange.

Luminox claims the LLT will maintain a stable glow in all environments for at least 25 years, and the scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal reduces unwanted reflections for improved readability.

This latest model is lightweight yet extremely durable, thanks to the special Carbonox material often used by Luminox. It is powered by a Swiss-made quartz movement and boasts a battery life of approximately 50 months.
The 43mm diameter, 13mm thick case has a presence, but is not too large for outdoor and adventure scenes. The black rubber strap with a 24mm lug width has a black fabric surface and the buckle is made of Carbonox, just like the case.

Luminox sells this field watch in a special box that includes a field green replacement strap and tools, and is priced at 88,810 yen (tax included).
