A stainless steel model of the Historiques 222 is now available

Vacheron Constantin celebrates its 270th anniversary this year. The first product the company has released in this anniversary year is a stainless steel model of the Historiques 222. While the 18K yellow gold version of the Historiques 222 was released in 2022 and caused quite a stir, many people still wanted a stainless steel model that would be easier to wear on a daily basis. Now, the model that many watch enthusiasts have longed for has finally become a reality.

This model offers a new interpretation of the "222," created to commemorate Vacheron Constantin's 222nd anniversary. For this reissue, the basic design has been kept the same, with only minor improvements, such as moving the date window slightly closer to the center. It features a sharply polished case and a more rigid bracelet, giving it the excellent exterior of a modern model. Automatic (Cal. 2455/2). 27 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve of approximately 40 hours. Stainless steel case (37mm diameter, 7.95mm thick). Water resistant to 50m. Price: 4,752,000 yen (tax included).

The original "222" is a luxury sports watch that was released in 1977 to commemorate the 222nd anniversary of the company's founding. This style, designed by Jorg Hysek, is thought to have been the prototype for the "Overseas," which was released about 20 years later.

The Historiques collection has been reissuing iconic pieces that tell the company's history. This latest addition to the collection also pays homage to the originals with features such as a fluted bezel and a Maltese cross at 5 o'clock on the case. Meanwhile, the modern arrangements are also noteworthy. On the dial, the date window has been moved slightly closer to the center, eliminating gaps in the minute markers and improving readability. The bracelet, which has increased rigidity and a double-opening buckle for a more comfortable fit, also shows steady evolution. The movement is equipped with the current flagship caliber 2455/2 series, achieving the practicality expected of a sporty watch.

While the original model had a solid case back, the Historiques 222 uses a see-through case back. It is equipped with the current flagship Cal. 2450 series movement, and the 22K gold rotor is engraved with "222" in the same font as the original case back.

What kind of reaction will enthusiasts receive for the Historiques 222, a new interpretation of the original model? And let's not forget that this is the first release to celebrate the 270th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin's founding. We can't wait to see what new releases will be released in this memorable year.
