Pastel colors added to the "Crown Chronograph" design model

Seiko is expanding its Presage Style 60's collection with three new models, evoking a 1960s vibe. While inspired by the iconic 1960s era, the Presage Style 60's blends timeless design, soft colors, and metallic accents for a contemporary look.

The 1960s saw a major breakthrough in the watch industry

The 1960s was a time of social, cultural, and technological change. In the watch industry, it was a time of innovation and grandiose design, with mechanical watches and chronographs in particular enjoying a boom.

Famous brands such as Rolex, Omega, and Heuer have established their reputations by releasing a succession of iconic models. The Omega Speedmaster, released in 1957, solidified its status when it was worn on the moon landing in 1969. Another notable example is the race to develop the first automatic chronograph. Incidentally, Seiko also played an important role in this race.

Japan's first chronograph watch, the Crown Chronograph

Seiko brought innovation to this era with groundbreaking technology and affordable wristwatches. In 1964, the company released the Crown Chronograph, Japan's first wristwatch with a chronograph function, in time for the Tokyo Olympics, and served as the official timekeeper for the event.

The Crown Chronograph had a design that set it apart from other manufacturers' typical chronographs of the time, measuring elapsed time using a central chronograph second hand and a bidirectional rotating bezel instead of subdials. Because it lacked a small seconds hand, it maintained the neat style of a three-hand watch, despite being a chronograph.

New colors now available for the Presage Style 60's, a tribute to the Crown Chronograph

The newly announced "Presage Style 60's" is a modern reinterpretation of the design of this classic. Its gently curved bezel, beveled indexes, and bold sword-shaped hands all pay homage to the Crown Chronograph. Additionally, a date display is located at 6 o'clock, bringing symmetry to the dial. Note that this model is a three-hand model, not a chronograph model.

SARY267

The dials are covered with domed Hardlex glass, and the colors evoke the soft pastel tones seen in 1960s fashion and interior design. Available in three colors - ice green Ref. SARY265, silver violet Ref. SARY267, and golden yellow Ref. SARY269 - they add a sophisticated modern nuance to the retro atmosphere.

All three models feature stainless steel cases with a diameter of 39.5 mm and a height of 12 mm. They are water resistant to 5 bar and have a transparent case back. The movement is the in-house automatic movement Cal. 4R35, which has a power reserve of approximately 41 hours and a stop-seconds function.
