One of the keywords of modern luxury watches is "understatement." They assert individuality without being flashy, and can be enjoyed in everyday life without feeling pretentious. Jacob & Co.'s "Epic X" proposes this new luxury style. With a sporty design based on the "X" motif and COSC-certified chronometer precision, it breaks new ground for the brand.

The brand name brings to mind a variety of timepieces. They have a huge variety, including the Five Time Zone, Astronomia, Casino Tourbillon, and Bugatti Tourbillon, and there is no consistency to their designs. However, this is precisely their greatest individuality, born from an abundance of ideas and creativity. Their unique combination of luxury and ultra-complex mechanisms has attracted many celebrities and connoisseurs.

Jacob & Co. began as a jewelry brand in New York in 1986. Aiming to create original watches, the brand entered the market in earnest with the launch of the Five Time Zone line in 2002. The brand quickly gained global fame as it became associated with street culture and the club scene, and was beloved by artists and supermodels.

In 06, he moved on to the next stage of supercomplication, which made full use of virtuosity, and worked on numerous models. At the same time, he released the Epic X in 15.

The design features an X motif that runs from the bezel to the lugs, and the skeleton dial houses a manual-winding movement with a vertically arranged gear train. While positioned as an entry-level model, it is extremely innovative. Since then, variations such as chronographs and ceramics have been released, building up the collection. The new model, "Epic X Sport," has been released to mark the 10th anniversary of its birth.

Epic X Skeleton

Epic X Skeleton
The watch is thoroughly skeletonized, with two vertical bridges that serve as the baseplate, allowing the movement's components and gear train to emerge. The distinctively shaped lugs are integrated with the vertical bridges. Manual winding (Cal. JCAM02). 21 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 48 hours. Ti case (diameter 44mm, thickness 12.3mm). Water resistant to 100m. 3,960,000 yen (tax included).

The 41mm case, downsized from 44mm, is thinner and features a center second hand. This is a unique design considering that most existing models are two-hand models. Furthermore, the built-in automatic movement is the first to be certified as a chronometer by COSC. This pursuit of practical functionality and precision marks a new frontier for the brand.

The simple yet unique case design, the dial with its geometric pattern, and the vibrant sky blue color often used by Jacob & Co. make it stand out even more. It leaves a strong impression as an expression of the brand's distinctive timepieces. While not limited, it is a rare model, which also appeals to enthusiasts. It is a challenge to new territory, worthy of the "X" name.
