H. Moser & Cie.: The true essence of collaboration pieces achieved through a challenging attitude

2025.08.12

Now in its second year since the partnership was formed, the collaboration models between H. Moser & Cie. and Alpine Motorsport have already reached a mature stage. Unlike watches that simply feature a logo or key colors, the two new models announced this year are ideal examples of collaboration models, created with the partners' usefulness in mind above all else.

Streamliner Alpine Driver's Edition

The openwork dial features a V-shaped bridge inspired by the suspension of an F1 car, while the see-through case back reveals a center bridge reminiscent of a helmet. This watch pays homage to the circuit and embodies the driver's passion, showcasing a solid look befitting an F1 car.

H. Moser & Cie. x Alpine Motorsport collaboration model

The partnership with Alpine Motorsport was announced a year ago, in 2024. Given H. Moser's track record of collaborating with numerous brands up to that point, the partnership itself was not surprising. However, as H. Moser & Cie. has always been known for its surprising offerings, the statement made at the time - "The partnership will create an unprecedented platform for shared products and experiences driven by the innovation and technology of both brands' respective fields" - undoubtedly raised expectations for what was to come. And now, just over a year after the partnership announcement, the opportunity to own a timepiece born from this groundbreaking platform has arrived.

Streamliner Alpine Driver's Edition

The Driver's Edition is equipped with the automatic movement HMC 700 with a flyback chronograph mechanism, developed for H. Moser & Cie. by movement development company Agenor.

The two collaboration models announced are the "Streamliner Alpine Driver's Edition" and the "Streamliner Alpine Mechanic's Edition," which H. Moser & Cie. completed after asking itself, "How can we support the Alpine F1 team and endurance racing teams in their pursuit of precision and performance?" The former is an automatic chronograph model with a look that embodies the driver's desire to wear a stylish watch that rivals the team's F1 cars, while the latter is H. Moser & Cie.'s first connected watch, designed as a professional work tool for the mechanics who support the races behind the scenes.

The openwork dial, which makes use of the movement design, and the design, which harmonizes with the team's cars and incorporates the blue and white combination colors of Alpine Motorsport, were born from an exchange of ideas with drivers including Pierre Gasly.

In creating both models, close communication was held with driver Pierre Gasly, race team manager Rob Cherry, and the pit crew, and the possibilities for collaboration models that go beyond logo design were explored, providing something meaningful to the team. Of the directions that emerged from this process, the Mechanics Edition was particularly surprising.

Streamliner Alpine Mechanic Edition

Featuring a funky blue fumé dial at 12 o'clock and a digital display at 6 o'clock, this watch follows H. Moser & Cie.'s design codes while evolving into a connected watch. The intuitive interface, with various functions accessible via the push button at 3 o'clock, is impressive.

This model uses a module from Swiss connected watchmaker Sequent, whose high-end standards were in line with H. Moser & Cie.'s philosophy and brand values. The company's products are known for being unique in that they feature an automatic winding mechanism with a rotor, despite being connected watches. However, the Mechanic Edition does not use this module, but instead incorporates a mechanism newly developed by Sequent for H. Moser & Cie.

Streamliner Alpine Mechanic Edition

Race mode provides useful features for pit crews, including a schedule of the next scheduled race (above), a countdown to the start of the race, and team notifications and messages.

Other features include a chronograph (below) capable of measuring to 1/100th of a second, a GMT with country selector, and a perpetual calendar, making it practical for staff who travel around the world. Even with continuous use of the digital display, the battery performance is reassuring, lasting for six one-hour F1 Grand Prix races.

Moreover, this product was stress-tested at the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, held from April 11th to 13th. Team staff actually checked the operability, visibility, fit, etc. of the product during race preparation, pit stops, and briefings, so its usefulness is guaranteed.

Although watchmaking and motorsports are in different fields, these two timepieces could only have been born from the collaboration of two companies that both share a commitment to pushing the boundaries. This work, which perfectly embodies the wishes of its partners, is perhaps what a collaboration model should be.
