A variety of new Citizen models to brighten up the summer of 2025

2025 is a memorable year for various brands operated by Citizen, marking milestones. The flagship "The Citizen" celebrates its 30th anniversary, the unique "Campanola" celebrates its 25th anniversary, and the "Aqualand," the world's first watch equipped with an electronic depth gauge, celebrates its 40th anniversary, with special anniversary models being released.

Furthermore, new models incorporating new themes and advanced technologies have been released for the ultra-thin Eco-Drive One, the elegant Exceed, and the high-tech Attesa. This article introduces the new models, including limited editions, announced between June and July.

The Citizen "30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model: High-Precision Eco-Drive with ±5 Seconds Annual Accuracy" Ref. AQ4100-65M

As mentioned above, The Citizen will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025, and to commemorate this, they are releasing a series of limited edition models. One of these, the Ref. AQ4100-65M, is a limited production model of 550 pieces, featuring a dial made from Tosa washi paper dyed in the traditional Japanese color "kachiiro" (victory color) using indigo dye.

The Citizen 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model: High-Precision Eco-Drive with ±5 Seconds Annual Accuracy

The Citizen "30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model High-Precision Eco-Drive with ±5 Seconds Annual Accuracy" Ref. AQ4100-65M
Solar-powered quartz movement. Super Titanium™ case (38.3mm diameter, 12.2mm thick). Water resistant to 10 bar. Limited to 550 pieces worldwide. Price: 484,000 yen (tax included).

The indigo-dyed Japanese paper that graces the dial of this watch is hand-dyed one piece at a time by artisans using the traditional indigo dyeing technique known as "natural lye fermentation." This color is known as a traditional auspicious color that has been treasured for military equipment and celebratory items, and the fibers of the Japanese paper give it depth and vividness. It also shows complex changes in appearance depending on how the light hits it.

The dial features polygonal bar indexes, dauphine hands, and the brand's iconic eagle mark. The case and bracelet are made of Super Titanium™. The 38.3mm diameter case is water resistant to 10 bar, providing excellent durability while also providing a comfortable fit.

The movement features a high level of precision, with an annual deviation of ±5 seconds, and is powered by Eco-Drive technology. Not only does it eliminate the need for periodic battery changes, but it also features a perpetual calendar that requires no date adjustment until February 28, 2100, making it a highly convenient watch for everyday use.

Another new model celebrating The Citizen's 30th anniversary is a limited edition model with an indigo-dyed washi paper dial dyed using the traditional "Murakumo tie-dye" technique. It will be released on August 7, 2025, with a limited run of 300 pieces.

The Citizen 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model: High-Precision Eco-Drive with ±5 Seconds Annual Accuracy

The Citizen "30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model High-Precision Eco-Drive with ±5 Seconds Annual Accuracy" Ref. AQ4106-26L
Solar-powered quartz movement. Super Titanium™ case (38.3mm diameter, 12.2mm thick). Water resistant to 10 bar. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide. Price: 484,000 yen (tax included).

The dial of this watch is also decorated with Tosa washi paper that has been hand-dyed by artisans using the "natural lye fermentation" method. Furthermore, this indigo-dyed washi paper is dyed using the Murakumo tie-dye method, which intentionally creates unevenness in the dyeing, creating a random pattern that resembles clouds floating in the blue sky. This pattern varies depending on the artisan's tie-dyeing technique, so no two of the 300 limited edition models will have the same look.

This fantastical dial is paired with a Super Titanium™ case coated with Duratect DLC. Not only is it lightweight and scratch-resistant, it is also water resistant to 10 bar, making it an attractive choice for everyday use. The blue strap, which matches the dial, is made of crocodile leather from an environmentally friendly LWG-certified tannery.

Citizen "Promaster Aqualand 40th Anniversary Limited Edition" Ref. JP2008-06E

Aqualand, which was released in 1985 as the world's first wristwatch equipped with an electronic depth gauge, has released a limited edition model of 5800 pieces to commemorate its 40th anniversary.

This model inherits the iconic design of the original model while incorporating special design elements befitting an anniversary model. The original styling remains the same, including the depth sensor at 9 o'clock, the LCD display at 12 o'clock on the dial, and the crown at 4 o'clock. The watch also features a matte case with gold accents and a honed finish, as well as a special logo on the case back, creating a special look to commemorate the 40th anniversary.

Naturally, the watch also comes with comprehensive support functions for divers. The LCD screen at 12 o'clock can be switched from "Time Mode," which displays the time and calendar, to "Diving Mode," which measures and displays depth and dive time. It also features an ascent speed alarm that sounds an alarm if the ascent speed exceeds a certain level to help prevent the risk of decompression sickness.

The strap is made from BENEBiOL™, an environmentally friendly plant-based urethane material, which is more resistant to hydrolysis than the original.

Citizen "Eco-Drive One 5 ATM Water Resistant Limited Edition" Ref. AR5062-52E

A new model, limited to 250 pieces worldwide, has been added to the 5 ATM water-resistant Eco-Drive One, which is equipped with the world's thinnest light-powered movement. Based on the theme of "comfortable light that brightens up an adult space," this watch highlights the contrast between black and pink gold colors.

The two-tone color of this model is achieved by using Citizen's proprietary surface hardening technology, Duratect DLC and Duratect Pink. The black bezel, dial, and bracelet are combined with the pink gold case, screws, and matching hour and minute hands and indexes, creating a warm contrast throughout the watch.

The case houses a 1.00mm thick movement and features no lugs, creating a form that appears to be integrated with the bracelet. Citizen "Campanola 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Cosmosign"

In 2025, Campanola, a brand known for its unique worldview, celebrates its 25th anniversary. To commemorate this, a new model has been released from the "Cosmosign" collection, with the design theme of "A night sky illuminated by the moon." The lineup includes two models: a constellation chart model and a moon phase chart model, each of which is sold in limited quantities of 250 pieces.

The dial also features a realistic moon layout, and displays not only the phases of the moon, but also the positions of the moon and the sun, as well as the times of rise and set.

Both models share a rounded, elegant case shape that harmonizes with the romantic dial for a refined appearance, while the large curve of the middle case ensures a comfortable fit on the wrist.

The case and strap specifications are different for each model, with the star chart model having a stainless steel case and bracelet, and the moon chart model having a stainless steel case with Duratect DLC coating and a black crocodile leather strap.

Citizen Attesa "ACT Line Blue Universe Collection"

Two new models have been added to the Citizen Attesa Act Line, the second installment of the Blue Universe Collection. Both models feature a black dial with glitter to depict the twinkling stars of outer space. The GPS satellite radio-controlled watch, Ref. CC4106-74E, is a multi-functional model with three subdials and a wide range of functions, including dual time and a chronograph. On the other hand, the radio-controlled watch, Ref. CB3046-76E, has a more modest size thanks to its limited functionality, allowing you to enjoy the spaciousness of the dial that depicts space.

Both models feature a sharp design with a striking octagonal bezel. The lack of lugs, which blends seamlessly with the bracelet, emphasizes their sporty look. They also feature practical specifications such as 10 bar water resistance and a bracelet fine-tuning mechanism.

Citizen "Exceed Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch"

The elegant Exceed brand has released a limited edition pair of watches designed with the theme of "Firefly Night," with only 450 of each available.

One notable feature of this pair of watches is the dial, which uses Fujifilm's "structural color ink." Furthermore, the gold-colored hands and indexes, which are reminiscent of the light of fireflies, add a chic and calm impression to the watch's appearance.

Meanwhile, the 24.8mm model features five diamonds set in place of hour markers, creating a delicate sparkle reminiscent of fireflies.

Both models feature cases made from Super Titanium™ coated with Duratect Platinum.
