NHK's drama series "Anpan" has ended, and many people are already feeling the loss
The NHK morning drama series "Anpan," which reached its final episode with great popularity and high average viewer ratings, is based on the life of Nobu Komatsu, the wife of Takashi Yanase, the creator of Anpanman. The carefully portrayed story of the couple overcoming the painful days when they had lost the meaning of life, and living without forgetting their dreams in post-war Japan, captured the hearts of many viewers. The story is filled with warmth and hope, typical of a morning drama series, and now that it has concluded at the end of September, many viewers are already feeling the "Anpan loss."
In "Anpan," the role of composer "Isetakuya," modeled after the real-life composer Izumi Tasuku, is played by Omori Motoki, vocalist and guitarist for the rock band "Mrs. GREEN APPLE." Although this is his first drama appearance, there are many scenes where the character he plays overlaps with himself, and fans have commented that "Mrs. (Green Apple) is glimpsed in and out."
The singing scenes in particular attracted attention. When they performed "Look Up at the Stars in the Night Sky" a cappella, many viewers were moved by their overwhelming vocal ability. Many viewers were also surprised by their singing voice, which was different from the usual Mrs. GREEN APPLE voice, and their appearance with aged hair and makeup was well received, with comments such as "I love both of them" and "They're both wonderful actors and artists." Their appearance in the NHK morning drama series, "Shousetsu," attracted attention from a different demographic than Mrs. GREEN APPLE's fan base.
A multi-talented artist who started writing songs when he was in elementary school
Motoki Omori is a multi-talented artist who writes lyrics, composes music, arranges music, and dances. His musical career began early, when in sixth grade he was influenced by the MONGOL800, bought an Epiphone bass guitar, and formed a band with his classmates and teacher. This marked the beginning of his musical career.
After that, he learned chords and began composing music on his own. After entering junior high school, he started working on DTM, honing his skills through repeated trial and error.
Assuming that viewers would only listen to the first 30 seconds of their songs on YouTube and other listening sites, they established a style of arranging the intros first, saying, "I want to grab the attention from the A-melody." This modern approach is one of the reasons why their songs are popular with a wide range of people.
Mrs. GREEN APPLE was formed in 2013. They won the Japan Record Award two years in a row in 2023 and 2024, and celebrated the 10th anniversary of their major debut in 2025. Although their story seems to have been smooth sailing, in 2024 they announced that they had been diagnosed with sudden hearing loss. Despite this, they have stated that they will continue their activities, and their sincere approach to music has earned them sympathy from their fans.
Discovered on the official Instagram! Retro-themed watches
Among Motoki Omori's Instagram posts, we found an image of him wearing an interesting watch. It appears to be a model called "Seiko Alba AKA." The unexpected combination of this watch with the period-inspired costume worn by Isetakuya in "Anpan" makes Motoki Omori's character stand out even more.
Seiko Alba was launched in 1979 as Seiko's affordable line to quickly respond to diversifying demand. "ALBA" means "dawn," "daybreak," or "beginning" in Italian, and was popular among style-conscious young people in an era when luxury and low-price trends were polarizing.
Among them, the "AKA" line featured many models with a retro-futuristic design. Rather than being safe, the playful designs caught the eye.

Quartz movement (Cal. V782). Water resistant to 10 bar. Released in November 1997. Discontinued product.
Popular with high-end brands with iconic designs
This is not the only watch in Motoki Omori's collection. In a previously posted image, he can be seen wearing a Gucci G-Timeless.
This model was designed by Alessandro Michele, who served as creative director from 2015 to 2022. The dial is pink, and the index features 12 bees, with three additional bees placed in the center. It is an impressive watch that matches the atmosphere of Motoki Omori, who combines genderless softness with sharp, multi-talented qualities.
Let's look back at the image of Omori Motoki at the beginning of this article. On his wrist, the Louis Vuitton Tambour Automatic Steel and Gold shines. The bezel, crown, and bracelet link are made of 18K rose gold, exuding a subtle elegance that is truly in keeping with Omori Motoki's style.

He will also appear in a commercial with his new song "GOOD DAY"
Having just finished filming the drama, Omori Motoki will also be appearing in a commercial for Kirin Beer's new brand, "Killing Good Ale," this fall, with his newly written song, "GOOD DAY." The song has a positive tone that aligns with the product's concept of "making Japan brighter." In an interview, he said that he has taken on many new challenges in 2025, and with his dome tour starting at the end of October, it's expected that he will be even busier as the year approaches.
Motoki Omori continues to demonstrate his talents in many areas, from fronting a band to acting, and even collaborating with various companies. His watch choices, which freely move between eras and genres, from the retro-inspired Seiko Alba to the innovative designs of Alessandro Michele and the elegant Louis Vuitton Tambour, seem to symbolize his flexible sensibilities when it comes to music and fashion.
What kind of challenge will Omori Motoki, who has been carving out his own path in music since elementary school, take on next? We will continue to support him as he overcomes the challenges of sudden hearing loss and strives for even greater heights.
