The model exclusively for the Italian Navy's "Marina Militare," which Panerai produced in 1993 when it announced its debut in the civilian market, has been revived. The skill with which the fine details have been faithfully reproduced is a sight to behold.

Panerai "Luminor Marina Militare"
This model commemorates the Panerai history exhibition "The Depths of Time." Focusing on 1993, the year the company transformed from a military equipment manufacturer into a global watch brand, this is a reissue of a model produced that year exclusively for the Marina Militaire. Manual-winding (Cal. P.6000). 19 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve: approximately 72 hours. Stainless steel case (44mm diameter, 13.05mm thick). Water resistant to 30 bar. Price: 1,265,000 yen (tax included).
The Ref. 5218-202/A, produced exclusively for the Italian Navy's "Marina Militare" in 1993, has been brought back to life in the modern era as the "Luminor Marina Militare" PAM05218. 93 marked the year Panerai announced its debut into the civilian market. Paying homage to a model that lies at the border between a military equipment manufacturer and a global watch brand, this timepiece features the same 44mm case as the original. This represents a departure from the 47mm case diameter that was the standard for Navy deliveries at the time, and while maintaining Panerai's distinctive identity of high water resistance and a large, highly legible design, it was reduced to a more market-friendly size. Panerai's subsequent success is hardly worth mentioning here.
The case is a modern reproduction of the original model, with a DLC coating, and the black dial adds a touch of class. Notably, the indices are an orange-brown, reminiscent of a burnt finish, while the luminous paint on the hour and minute hands shows no burnt color. This is a reproduction of the "mismatched dial" characteristic of the 93 model, which was created when the tritium applied only to the indices reacted with the varnish. Other fine details include the font based on the original model, the "Marina Militare" logo, and engraved indices instead of sandwich type.
This model is also a commemorative model for the Panerai history exhibition "The Depths of Time." The exhibition will explore the history of Panerai, including equipment delivered to the Italian Navy before its commercial debut, as well as timepieces deeply connected to the brand's history. This model is a fitting commemoration of such an event.
