Seiko Credor was launched in 1974 as a collection of watches made from precious metals under the name "Special Selection Watches." Nearly half a century later, in July of this year, the brand opened its first standalone store on Shijo Street in Kyoto. This store format allows for a design and space that is completely different from traditional Credor salons.

The "newness" begins at the entrance. As it is a street-front store, the entrance faces the street, but after a long, dimly lit corridor, there is a door to the salon. This design evokes the idea of a path that leads to something extraordinary.

Although the store is not particularly large at 39.40 square meters, at the time of our visit, there were approximately 30 Credor watches displayed in newly designed fixtures. The lineup is extensive, and we were able to see rare models such as the "Eichi II," "Locomotive," and "Gold Feather." There is also a Grand Seiko boutique on the same premises, and you can easily go between them. There is also a lounge on the second floor shared with Grand Seiko, where events are planned to be held in the future.

Upon entering the store, one is greeted by the distinctive curves of the interior and fixtures. These curves are inspired by Credor's crest mark, the brand logo. Credor, whose name means "golden peak," has used a logo combining a mountain peak and three stars since 1980. The crest mark represents Credor's "essence," which continues to create the highest quality products using the finest materials, reflecting the sensibilities of the time. Additionally, upcycled materials are used for the walls and fixtures. The use of modern, environmentally friendly materials demonstrates Credor's "challenges"—a shift from a women's-focused product lineup to a focus on men's models and expanding sales channels overseas. The surfaces are finished with plastering. During the salon visit, a faint floral scent wafted through the air. This is the result of Credor's original aroma. It's a fun experiment made possible by the brand's standalone, stand-alone store.

Credor Salon Kyoto embodies the essence and ongoing challenges that have been cultivated over the past 50 years. While it is a new salon for the brand, it is also a place where the tradition of Credor is depicted.

Another new design feature of Credor Salon Kyoto is the special pattern that surrounds the crest mark displayed inside the store. This pattern also expresses the curved lines of the crest mark.
