A fortune teller with a unique divination technique

Five Star and Three Hearts Divination is a unique divination method that combines multiple elements, including name analysis, four pillars of destiny, astrology, palmistry, date of birth, and psychology. The "Five Stars" are the five elements of the "Five Elements" that have been passed down since ancient China - "wood, fire, earth, metal, and water" - plus the concept of yin and yang, resulting in 10 possibilities. The "Three Hearts" are three elements - "heaven, sea, and earth" - that represent the movements of the mind, which can also be considered to have yin and yang, resulting in six possibilities, and when the concept of gold and silver (front and back) is added, it can be 12 possibilities. By combining the "Five Stars" and the "Three Hearts," it is possible to perform detailed analysis in 120 ways.

Getters Iida, the fortune teller behind this, has provided free readings to over 75,000 people and has become a hot topic in the industry for his stance of "not reading without an introduction." He has developed his own unique statistical method based on his vast track record of fortune telling over 20 years, and established this Goseisanshin fortune telling method.

He has appeared in numerous media outlets, including television, radio, magazines and the web, and his books have sold over 1000 million copies, making him a truly best-selling fortune teller. His trademark red mask and hat are a result of a fortune teller who told him that it would be best not to show his face.

It's November, and Getters Iida's 2026 Fortune Telling (published by Asahi Shimbun Publications), released in September 2025, will soon be piled up in bookstores. It's time to get your fortune told for the coming year, in preparation for the year ahead. There's not much time left this year.

The unusual career of a comedian who became a fortune teller

Getters Iida was originally part of the comedy duo "Tonosamagaeru Amagaeru" and later renamed the duo "Chemical Comical" and "Getters." He first started fortune-telling as a way to create material for the Rakugo study group he belonged to at university. After actually trying fortune-telling, he became hooked on how interesting it was, and began to study on his own and accumulate data. This led to him creating his own unique method of statistics.

The comedy duo disbanded in 2005, but he continued to perform under his real name, Iida Nobutaka, before finally embarking on a full-fledged career as a fortune teller. He has appeared irregularly as a special guest fortune teller on the fortune telling variety show "Suddenly, May I Fortune Tell You?", which has been airing since 2020, and has captivated many viewers.

A Rolex I discovered on Instagram

There was a post on Gettaz Iida's Instagram where he was wearing a watch. The image posted on November 13, 2024, shows a recording of the radio program "Gettaz Iida Radio Fortune Telling SHOW," and a Rolex Submariner can be seen on his wrist.

Official Instagram post from November 13, 2024. Getts Iida has publicly stated that the notebook he has been using to keep records has become worn out, so he has bought a new one, and what he is holding up in both hands is likely both the old and new notebook.

The program also accepts applications from people who want their fortunes read over the phone, providing a valuable opportunity for fans to speak directly. In the comments accompanying the post, along with the announcement that the new book has been completed, words that convey the difficulties of creating it were spelled out.

"Fortune telling is better than being a fortune teller, just being on the receiving end of a fortune telling. With manga, it's better to just read manga than to become a manga artist. With cooking, it's better to just eat food than to be a chef. It's easier and more fun that way, and it's okay to complain (rest omitted)," and these frank expressions are likely only possible after experiencing the pain of giving birth. And at the end of the article, she concludes with a kind message to her listeners: "If you listen to the concerns and worries of others, you might find some useful hints for yourself."

The Submariner for Professionals

The watch that Getters Iida is wearing is believed to be the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Ref. 126613LB. It features a three-row Oyster bracelet made of a combination of Oystersteel and yellow gold, and a blue Cerachrom bezel insert, making it a model that combines luxury and practicality. Its distinctive royal blue dial with large luminescent hour markers gives it the presence you expect from a Submariner.

Rolex Submariner

Rolex "Oyster Perpetual Submariner" Ref. 126613LB
Automatic movement (Cal. 3235). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel x 18K yellow gold case (41mm diameter). Water resistant to 300m. Price: 2,581,700 yen.

The bezel is unidirectional, and its edges are designed to ensure reliable operation underwater, even while wearing gloves. The hour markers are simple shapes—triangle, circle, and rectangle—and, combined with the wide hour and minute hands, ensure high visibility. Being able to instantly read the accurate time even underwater is extremely important, as it can mean the difference between life and death for a diver.

The movement used is the Cal. 3235, which was replaced in 2020 and is a high-precision chronometer (COSC certified, Rolex certified after casing). Rolex has obtained 14 new patents for this movement, and the power reserve has been extended to approximately 70 hours, significantly improving practicality. This is truly a watch for professionals.

In a recent blog post, Getters Iida wrote, "Fortune telling is not about improving your life, it's just about returning you to a normal state. It's about finding out what state you feel most comfortable in, what is easiest for you, and how to create a situation that suits you best." These words convey his sincere attitude of helping people return to their true selves through fortune telling.

Lucky talk shows and bookstore events are scheduled to be held all over the country over the New Year holidays, with the schedules planned well into the future. It seems that there are some venues where you can still get tickets now. There will also be a lottery-based fortune telling event, so this may be a rare opportunity to have your fortune told in person.

I hope he will continue to provide fortune-telling services that will help many people overcome their worries and doubts and turn them into positive outcomes.
