FEATURES

The much anticipated results are announced!

The Chronos Top 10 Watches Rankings is a regular feature of the Japanese edition of Chronos. Each judge selects 10 recommended models based on a theme. From these, the top 10 are determined based on the votes cast. The reader rankings are created by having webChronos readers choose their number one from the top 10 and vote for them.

This issue's theme is "The Number One Titanium Watch." Lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant, titanium is an ideal material for wristwatches. Originally used for military applications, Citizen developed the X-8 Chronometer in 1970, a nearly 100% pure titanium watch. However, titanium is difficult to process, especially when it comes to achieving a high-quality finish. However, with the development of alloys and processing techniques in recent years, many companies, including luxury watchmakers, have begun producing titanium watches. Therefore, we asked webChronos Japan to rank the top 10 titanium watches. From December 5th to 11th, 2025, webChronos readers were asked to vote for the results. Compared to the rankings created by our judges, models that have improved in rank are marked with an up arrow, models that have dropped in rank are marked with a down arrow, and models that are tied are marked with a right arrow.

Longines "Longines Spirit" titanium models in general

Longines Spirit Zulu Time

Ranking in our magazine: 9th
Longines "Longines Spirit Zulu Time" Ref. L3.802.1.53.6
Automatic movement (Cal. L844.4). 21 jewels. 25,200 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. Ti case (diameter 39 mm, thickness 13.5 mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. 642,400 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Longines Tel. 03-6254-7350

[Readers' reasons for voting]
- GMT watches tend to be heavy, so I like the titanium case, which makes it easy to use.
- It's amazing how they've managed to keep the price in the 60 yen range despite the high cost of titanium. The idea of using titanium in a pilot's watch is brilliant. It's lightweight and practical for active pilots who hold the control stick. The matte titanium exterior reduces the reflection of sunlight inside the cockpit. It's fun to think about it like a pilot, as this is a model that exemplifies the use of titanium.

↘︎Tied for 8th place
All Audemars Piguet Royal Oak titanium models

Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Thin

Ranking in our magazine: 6th
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" Extra-Thin, Ref. 16202XT.OO.1240XT.01

[Readers' reasons for voting]
Titanium is a material that is difficult to finish. The true value of the Royal Oak lies in the fact that it is made of titanium and has a beautiful finish that is "even better than stainless steel," from the edges to the satin and mirror finishes, and even the movement of the bracelet.

↘︎Tied for 8th place
Bvlgari "Octo Finissimo" titanium models in general

Octo Finissimo

Ranking in our magazine: 1th
Bvlgari "Octo Finissimo" Ref. 102713
Automatic (Cal. BVL138). 31 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 60 hours. Ti case (diameter 40mm, thickness 5.15mm). Water resistant to 30m. 2,486,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Bvlgari Japan Tel. 0120-030-142

[Readers' reasons for voting]
・Not only is it light, it's also thin. Thin is justice.
- Titanium was chosen to achieve the thinnest possible design.
・I think Octo Finissimo's titanium stands out from the rest, offering a thin, comfortable fit, a sexy look, and even lightness. While the polished finish, which doesn't look like titanium, is appealing, I chose a model that looks more like titanium.

↗︎5th place
Seiko Credor "Locomotive" in general

Locomotive GCCR997

Ranking in our magazine: 7th
Seiko Credor "Locomotive GCCR997"
Automatic winding (Cal. CR01). 26 jewels. 28,800 vibrations per hour. Power reserve approximately 45 hours. Ti case (diameter 38.8 mm, thickness 8.9 mm). 10 bar water resistance. 187 million yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Seiko Watch Customer Service (Credor) Tel. 0120-302-617

[Readers' reasons for voting]
・I am very happy to own it.
・Genta design meets titanium.
-I'm amazed that bracelet was made out of titanium.

↗︎4th place
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42

Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42

Ranking in our magazine: 5th
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42
Automatic winding (Cal. 3235). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. RLX titanium case (diameter 42mm, thickness 11.6mm). Water resistant to 100m.

[Readers' reasons for voting]
・Despite the 42mm (case diameter), it is extremely thin and doesn't feel strange.
Titanium has reached grade 5 and can now be finished in an elaborate way, but its light weight and durability make it ideal for practical watches, so I was torn between Longines and Locomotive. However, I would like to recommend the Yachtmaster, which has finally been released by the king of practical watches.
The color is bright for titanium, and the satin finish is clear and beautiful. The polished chamfering on the lugs is also luxurious and beautiful. I think this is a titanium sports watch that combines beauty and coolness.
The bezel and case have a high-quality feel. Even though they're made of titanium, they're not rough-cut and the finish is outstanding.

↗︎3th place
Citizen "The Citizen AQ6020"

The Citizen AQ6020-53X

Ranking in our magazine: 8th
Citizen "The Citizen AQ6020-53X"
Solar-powered Eco-Drive (Cal. 0100). 17 jewels. 8,388,608 Hz. 8 months on a full charge (power save mode). Ti (diameter 37.5 mm, thickness 9.1 mm). 5 bar water resistance. 880,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Citizen Customer Watch Consultation Center Tel. 0120-78-4807

[Readers' reasons for voting]
Lightness, thinness, finish of hands and bracelet, dial that doesn't look like it's solar-powered, and needless to say, accuracy. Other than the brand (and its logo), it seems to be almost perfect. I regret missing out on buying it at the time because I kept taking detours.
I'm a Seiko and Rolex fan, but when it comes to titanium scratch-resistant coating, Citizen has the edge.
- We are one of the earliest manufacturers to research titanium as a watch material, and this watch, which was created with the aim of achieving the ultimate in precision, is one that should go down in history.

↗︎2th place
Citizen "The Citizen AQ4100"

The Citizen AQ4100-57B

Ranking in our magazine: 10th
Citizen "The Citizen AQ4100-57B"
Solar-powered Eco-Drive (Cal. A060). Runs for approximately 1.5 years on a full charge (power save mode). Ti case (diameter 38.3 mm, thickness 12.2 mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. 418,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Citizen Customer Watch Consultation Center Tel. 0120-78-4807

[Readers' reasons for voting]
・I fell in love with the design at first sight.
Eco-Drive, perpetual movement, ±5 seconds per year quartz movement, sapphire crystal crystal, Duratect-treated super titanium, and so on - the list goes on and on, and yet it's this price. It's not just a bargain price, it's a watch you should steal. Other manufacturers talk about abstract things like fame, history, and stories, but CITIZEN is concrete. It's truly amazing. It's the pride of Japan.
-Beautiful dial, cost-effectiveness, and accurate timekeeping.
I normally wear a stainless steel hand-wound watch, but when choosing a titanium watch, I focused on its ease of use, and thought the convenience of the Eco-Drive annual accuracy quartz movement was what made it so appealing.

↗︎1th place
Grand Seiko "Evolution 9 Collection Spring Drive UFA" Ref. SLGB003

Evolution 9 Collection Spring Drive UFA SLGB003

Ranking in our magazine: 3th
Grand Seiko "Evolution 9 Collection Spring Drive UFA" Ref. SLGB003
Spring Drive automatic movement (Cal. 9RB2). Accuracy ±20 seconds per year. 34 jewels. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. Bright titanium case (diameter 37.0 mm, thickness 11.4 mm). Water resistant to 10 bar. 1,518,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Seiko Watch Customer Service (Grand Seiko) Tel. 0120-302-617

[Readers' reasons for voting]
-Lightweight, easy-to-use size for Japanese people, and a beautiful dial.
-The color of the dial matches beautifully with the color of the titanium case.
-High level of perfection in terms of aesthetic beauty and precision.
-The movement is excellent, but the finish is so good you wouldn't believe it's made of titanium.
I own one and it's very comfortable to wear.
The case is a nice mix of polished and satin finishes, and it's really beautiful how it changes appearance depending on the light. The bracelet retains the matte texture of the titanium, with carefully polished edges, giving it an elegant yet casual finish.

Thank you for all your votes!
