The popularity of dress watches shows no signs of slowing down

Dress watches are a category that has been gaining attention in recent years. Traditionally, dress watches were delicate and required careful handling, but after the boom in luxury sports watches, manufacturers gained the know-how to create thin cases that were practical enough to manufacture dress watches that were easy to wear on a daily basis. As a result, there are now many dress watch lineups, and new models are being released one after another.

This trend continued this year as well, with a truly profusion of new models being released, including the reissue of archive items, improvements to existing models, and the announcement of completely new designs.

Breguet celebrates its 250th anniversary this year, and to mark this milestone, the company has released a number of iconic models that represent its history, including the Classique Subscription 2025.

The inspiration for this watch came from Abraham-Louis Breguet's introduction of a single-hand pocket watch, which was sold on a prepaid reservation system, whereby customers paid a quarter of the watch price at the time of ordering. This sales method allowed Breguet to maintain a stable financial base for its watchmaking operations.

The curved Grand Feu enamel dial features Breguet numerals and a secret hand-engraved sign at 6 o'clock using a pantograph. The blued steel Breguet hands are bent at the tips and positioned closer to the dial for improved legibility.

The case is crafted from 18K Breguet gold, a material newly introduced this year. This 18K gold alloy features a warm hue that harmonizes with the Grand Feu enamel dial. A see-through caseback allows the viewer to admire the newly developed manual-winding movement, which also features a design reminiscent of the original.

The Villeret collection, named after Blancpain's birthplace, is a simple dress watch featuring a round case, double-step bezel, and sage-shaped hour and minute hands.

The matte opaline dial features elegantly typed Roman numerals, a date display, and the brand logo. The absence of minute markers gives it a relaxed impression.

The case is made of polished stainless steel. With a diameter of 40mm and short lugs, it is easy to wear even on slender wrists. At just 8.7mm thick, it lives up to its "ultra-slim" name. The beige alligator leather strap makes it suitable for casual wear. If you're looking for a dress watch for more formal occasions, you can also change to a black alligator leather strap.

The Cal. 1151 movement, which has its roots in the thin automatic movement developed by Frederic Piguet, is just 3.25mm thin, yet boasts a long power reserve of approximately 100 hours and is anti-magnetic thanks to its silicon balance spring.

The dial features wedge-shaped indexes, a railway minute circle, a small second, and hour and minute hands, reminiscent of a classic dress watch. The matte finish and sky blue PVD finish give it a modern feel.

The round case, made of platinum with smooth curves, features a hand-engraved bee symbol between the lugs, symbolizing the company's diligence. The conical crown adds a touch of classic style while improving operability.

The hand-wound movement has been awarded the Geneva Seal, and the aesthetic appeal is also appealing. The see-through case back allows you to admire the striped bridge and swan-neck regulator.

The power reserve indicator, which is symbolic of Orient Star, is located at 12 o'clock, and a fantastic moon phase is located at 6 o'clock. While many of Orient Star's manual-winding models have adopted openwork dials, this model uses a closed dial, making it easier to wear on a daily basis.

The movement can be seen through the see-through case back, and there are plenty of highlights to see, including the striped bridges and the vibrant blue silicon escape wheel.
