The Black Bay is Tudor's signature collection. With a wide range of models in various sizes, functions, and designs, it can be hard to decide which one to choose. In this article, we'll explain the different types of Black Bay watches available. Knowing the differences between them will make it easier to find the one that's right for you.

Types of Tudor Black Bay
Tudor released the Black Bay diver's watch in 2012. However, Tudor's history in this genre dates back to the Oyster Prince Submariner in 1954. Although production of the Submariner itself ceased in 1999, the Black Bay incorporated designs that had been used in previous models – such as the "snowflake hands" and rivet bracelet seen since the 1970s – and became highly popular as a diver's watch with a vintage feel but modern functionality.
When it was first released, only the basic three-hand model was available, but as its popularity grew, various variations were released, reaching a wide range of users. However, due to the wide variety of models, there are probably not many users who can tell at a glance which model was created under what concept, what size it is, and what functions it has. So, we have compiled a list of the different types of Black Bay.
Black Bay | The classic diver that started the series

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5602-U). 25 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 41mm, thickness 13.6mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 742,500 yen (tax included).
The Black Bay is the centerpiece of the series, featuring a 41mm stainless steel case. Since its release in 2012 and its subsequent revamp in 2016, its basic style has remained largely unchanged, making it an iconic watch that is easily recognizable as a Tudor Black Bay. It also boasts 200m water resistance and a unidirectional rotating bezel, fulfilling the basic requirements of a diver's watch. The dial features oversized indices and snowflake hands, ensuring legibility in any situation and further cementing its iconic status. The domed sapphire crystal adds a retro touch.
While the exterior remains traditional, its performance is constantly evolving. Since 2023, the watch has been equipped with the Master Chronometer-certified automatic movement, Cal. MT5602-U, which boasts extremely high specifications, including magnetic resistance of 15,000 gauss. However, a model equipped with the Kenissi Cal. MT5602 movement, which has been used since 2016, is also available, and this is also a high-performance diver's watch with COSC-certified precision.

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5602-U). 25 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (41mm diameter). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 734,800 yen (tax included).
Choose from three- or five-link metal bracelets, or rubber, leather, or fabric straps. Master Chronometer-certified models feature a "T-fit" quick-adjust clasp that can be fine-tuned by the user without tools.
Although there are differences in the movements and details, all of the models in the Black Bay lineup possess Tudor's iconic design and excellent performance, and can be said to be the benchmark for the brand.
Black Bay 54 | A 37mm Diameter Replica of the First Tudor Diver

Automatic (Cal. MT5400). Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 37mm, thickness 11.2mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 635,800 yen (tax included).
The Black Bay 54 is a 37mm case model that follows the design of the Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner Ref. 7922, an early Tudor diver that appeared in 1954. It is classified as the smallest case in the series, and its reduced thickness enhances its classic impression. It is notable for its re-creation of historical model features using modern manufacturing techniques, such as a case and bezel scale without crown guards, and gold-colored hands, indexes, and minute circle.
The watch is equipped with the automatic Cal. MT5400 movement. Like the aforementioned Black Bay, it also features essential diver's watch details like 200m water resistance and a unidirectional rotating bezel, making it a practical watch. The dial features large indices and snowflake hands, reflecting the feel of the original model while maintaining easy readability.

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5400). 27 jewels. Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 37mm, thickness 11.2mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 602,800 yen (tax included).
Two types of bracelets are available: a triple-rivet bracelet and a rubber strap, both of which feature a "T-fit" quick-adjust clasp. The fit can be precisely adjusted, making it easy to use even for everyday wear. The 37mm case size is also suitable for those with smaller wrists. If you imagine a larger model when you think of a diver's watch, we recommend giving this Black Bay 54 a try.
Black Bay 58: The Modern Big Crown

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5400-U). 28,800 vph. Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 39mm, thickness 11.7mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 718,300 yen (tax included).
The Black Bay 58 is a series introduced in 2018, with a design that pays homage to the Oyster Prince Submariner Ref. 7924, a diver's watch released by the brand in 1958. The Ref. 7924 was nicknamed the "Big Crown" due to its 8mm diameter and large crown, which was unusual for the time. By adopting the original 39mm case size, slim lugs, and domed sapphire crystal, the Black Bay 58 has earned itself a reputation as a diver's watch with a retro feel.
One of the charms of the collection is the wide variety of variations available, including a burgundy model equipped with the Master Chronometer-certified Caliber MT5400-U, released this year, as well as an 18K yellow gold model, a bronze model, a silver model, and a GMT model.

Black Bay 68 | A new face in a 43mm case

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5601-U). 28,800 vph. Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 43mm, thickness 13.6mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 734,800 yen each (tax included).
The Black Bay 68 is the latest collection, released in 2025. The collection name is taken from 1968, the year the snowflake hands were first introduced to Tudor watches, and, unusually given the recent trend toward smaller diameters, it features the largest Black Bay case yet, measuring 43mm in diameter.
Two dial versions, one with a blue dial and one with a silver dial, were released simultaneously. While it lacks a date display and has a vintage feel typical of the Black Bay, the sunray-finished dial also gives it a modern feel. The bracelet, which lacks rivets, gives it a different feel from previous models.
Both models are equipped with the Master Chronometer-certified Cal. MT5601-U movement, which, combined with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and water resistance to 200m, makes them extremely practical.
Although the 43mm case is large, it is comfortable to wear thanks to the fine adjustment mechanism of the "T-fit" quick-adjust clasp and an overall length that is not too large.
Black Bay Bronze | A bronze case model that changes over time

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5601). 28,800 vph. Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Bronze case (diameter 43mm, thickness 13.6mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 726,000 yen (tax included).
The Black Bay Bronze is a model that uses a bronze alloy containing aluminum for its case material. Bronze oxidizes to varying degrees depending on the environment in which it is used, developing a unique patina over time. The case diameter is 43mm, making it one of the most eye-catching sizes in the Black Bay series. The dial and bezel are a slate gray color that harmonizes with the bronze case, and the layout, featuring large indices and snowflake hands, is perfectly balanced. The bronze model also features Arabic numerals for the 3, 6, and 9 indices, giving it a special feel.
The Black Bay Bronze is unique in that it allows you to enjoy the changes in the material throughout the entire exterior, making it a model that stands out as being unique within the series.
Black Bay Chrono | Popular Chronograph Model

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5813). 41 jewels. Power reserve: approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (41mm diameter). Water resistant to 200m. 945,000 yen each (tax included).
As its name suggests, the Black Bay Chrono is a model equipped with a chronograph mechanism. It features chronograph hands for measuring time and a bezel with a tachymeter scale, giving the Black Bay a more racy look, despite its strong diver's watch feel. The dial also features a 45-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a small seconds at 9 o'clock. The combination of the indexes and snowflake hands combines the visibility of a diver's watch with the functionality of a chronograph.
The watch is equipped with the automatic Cal. MT5813 movement. Its design prioritizes durability and stable operation, ensuring stability when operating the chronograph. It's also water resistant to 200m, making it a watch suitable for a variety of active occasions.

The Black Bay GMT is a model that combines a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 24-hour display and a GMT hand, allowing you to read multiple time zones. The 24-hour bezel, made up of two colors (red and blue), makes it easy to distinguish between day and night, and when used in conjunction with the GMT hand, it allows you to check two or three times simultaneously. This model is extremely practical for users who frequently travel across time zones or for situations where multiple times need to be checked. The aforementioned Black Bay 58 also has a GMT model in its lineup, but the Black Bay GMT has a 41mm case diameter and an exterior shape that is more traditional than the Black Bay.
The movement is Cal. MT5652, which allows the hour hand to operate independently.
The bracelet is available in three-link, five-link, or fabric, allowing you to customize the look of the watch to suit your needs. The lineup includes stainless steel or a two-tone model that combines stainless steel with 18K yellow gold, the latter of which will add a touch of elegance to your wrist.
Black Bay One | A simple and versatile watch

Automatic movement (Cal. MT5601). 25 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 41mm, thickness 12.2mm). Water resistant to 200m. Price: 685,300 yen (tax included).
Unlike the models introduced so far, the Black Bay One is a simple addition to the Black Bay collection, lacking an outer bezel. This simplicity translates into versatility that can be used by any user in a variety of situations, and the fact that it is available in case sizes of 31mm, 36mm, 39mm, and 41mm indicates a wide target demographic. Meanwhile, the five-link bracelet is dressy and distinctive. Another key point is that the center links are polished, giving the watch a subtle sparkle and a striking presence on the wrist.
The current models are equipped with Tudor's manufacture movements, so the 39mm and 41mm case models have a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, while the 31mm and 36mm case models have a power reserve of approximately 50 hours, making them very practical.

It is suitable for a wide range of users and can be worn by both men and women. It is also recommended to consider it as a pair watch or a shared watch with your partner.
