SevenFriday's "T-Riley Music" model features the brand's mascot, Riley. Some people may wonder, "Won't a character watch give off a childish impression?" However, there's no need to worry about that with this watch. The bronze gold colored case and petrol blue accents create a subdued impression. Furthermore, Riley on the dial is depicted with a multi-layered structure reminiscent of a paper cutout, adding a touch of luxury and visual enjoyment.

A hands-on review of "T-Riley Music," which prominently features the brand's character!

Automatic movement (Cal. TMI NH70A). 24 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 41 hours. Stainless steel case (45 x 45.6 mm, 9.47 mm thick). Water resistant to 3 bar. Limited to 777 pieces. Price: 198,000 yen (tax included).
SevenFriday, a brand known for its distinctive square-cased watches, has released its second watch, "T-Riley Music," themed around the brand's mascot, Riley. Reminiscent of a certain famous brand's bear-themed sweaters and watches, the product is high-quality, playful, and approachable. It truly embodies the concept of "relaxed luxury."
This approach has always been SevenFriday's forte, and it's interesting to see that spirit remain unchanged even now, as the brand enjoys great success. The price in Japan is 198,000 yen (tax included), which gives it a modest impression typical of SevenFriday. However, in terms of "fun," this watch has a lot to offer.
A watch featuring the brand mascot

From every angle, the T-Riley Music is a watch brimming with details that are truly worth seeing. Look at the center of the dial, where you'll find Riley, the mascot, happily playing guitar in the woods. SevenFriday describes this as "an attempt to induce a happy emotional state in the viewer," and it certainly succeeds, as this watch will have you smiling more than you realize.
A playful dial with a three-dimensional structure reminiscent of layered papercutting

Riley, the bear mascot, isn't simply printed on the dial. The dial is made up of four layers, each representing a different part of Riley. For example, one layer features a printed, colored outline of Riley, while another features a cut-out face with a different metal outline. It's almost like layering cutouts. This gives the dial a three-dimensional appearance, lending the watch a luxurious feel.
The dial certainly contains a lot of information, but the bold, thick hands typical of SevenFriday and the indices on the outer ring ensure ample legibility.
The color scheme and finish create a "casual adult feel."
I'd also like to state that SevenFriday's approach to color is clever. The case is made of bronze gold-colored PVD with petrol blue accents. This color combination seems to harmonize very well with Riley's image. What's more, the subdued colors make it highly practical and suitable for everyday wear. Many fun-themed watches are colorful, which can give the impression of being a "children's watch." However, this subdued color scheme avoids that impression.
The SevenFriday Way in Size and Wearability

The cushion-shaped case measures an imposing 45 x 45.6 mm, but the strap attachments are integrated into both ends of the case back. At first glance, this watch may seem huge, but thanks to the lack of lugs and its nearly square shape, it's surprisingly comfortable to wear, even for those with smaller wrists. It's also reasonably heavy, but not so much that it becomes a burden. In addition, the edges of the entire case are carefully rounded, which is both visually and tactilely appealing.
Reliable movement and NFC authentication

The case back is closed, and inside is the automatic movement Cal. NH70. This movement is robust, reliable, and easy to maintain. However, the power reserve is a little short at approximately 41 hours. The case back also features a fun Riley illustration and an NFC chip, which allows for authentication and registration using a dedicated application. The warranty period can also be extended by one year via NFC.
A product that strikes a good balance between fun and price

This model comes with a silicone strap and a large bronze gold PVD buckle, making it extremely comfortable to wear. The strap tends to attract dust, but even so, the watch is still highly finished. It's rare to find a model with such clear character and fun at such an affordable price, and it makes me hopeful that SevenFriday's "Bear" collection will continue to be released.
