Introducing the limited edition models released by Citizen in 2025

Citizen released numerous limited edition models in 2025. This time, we will introduce limited edition models from The Citizen, Promaster, Attesa, Eco-Drive One, and Campanola. This year saw many themes celebrating anniversary years, including the 30th anniversary of The Citizen, the 40th anniversary of the Promaster Aqualand, the 55th anniversary of the adoption of titanium, the 65th anniversary of the Blue Impulse collaboration, and the 25th anniversary of Campanola, and many models were released to commemorate these anniversaries.

The Citizen Iconic Nature Collection: 4 Models

　The Citizen, which was launched in 1995 as a timepiece that accompanies life, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025. To celebrate this milestone year, four limited edition models themed around Japan's four seasons have been released in the Iconic Nature Collection. Each model shares the same basic specifications, featuring a lightweight, scratch-resistant Super Titanium™ case and the light-powered Eco-Drive Cal. A080 movement with a perpetual calendar.

　The Ref. AQ4106-00A is a model with a dial depicting a "Spring Dawn Scene," with soft clouds drifting in the early morning light as the day dawns. Crafted from Unryu paper, a type of Japanese paper made with long fibers, it is finished with a delicate pink hue that resembles both the sky and cherry blossoms. The case is finished with Duratect Sakura Pink, creating a gorgeous look that matches the dial.

　The Ref. AQ4100-22L is a model that depicts a "summer night scene" on its dial. The moonlight reflected on the surface of a river at night is expressed by layering a gradient on Japan Blue indigo-dyed Japanese paper. The accompanying gold-colored second hand incorporates the light trails of fireflies. The case is made of Duratect Platinum, once again representing a quiet summer night.

　The Ref. AQ4103-16W is a model that captures a moment in the "autumn evening scene." Using black washi paper as the base, gold leaf is used to create a "faded" effect, and brown gradations are layered to depict the moment when the edge of the mountain sparkles in the setting sun. The case is finished in Duratect Amber Yellow, a muted gold tone that resembles the reflection of the setting sun.

　The Ref. AQ4100-22A depicts the "morning scene of a snowy landscape as dawn breaks." Platinum foil, scattered like snow using the traditional "sunakomaki" technique, is layered on white Japanese paper, creating a gray gradation effect, evoking a harsh yet beautiful winter morning. The case is crafted with Duratect Platinum, evoking the chill of winter air.

The Citizen Indigo-dyed Washi Dial Model

　The Citizen 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Model Ref. AQ4100-65M is a limited edition model that incorporates the traditional Japanese color "kachiiro" (victory color) on the dial. Kachiiro is a particularly dark shade of indigo dye called "kachiiro" (brown) with auspicious characters written on it, and has been used on weapons and celebratory items, with the hope of winning a battle.

　What makes this watch unique is that this traditional color is applied using the traditional indigo dyeing technique of "natural lye fermentation." The process of dye fermentation and multiple dyeing processes creates an indigo color that is both deep and vibrant, and its appeal lies in the multi-layered expressions that change depending on the light. The Super Titanium™ case and bracelet are adorned with Duratect Platinum, and the sharp hour and minute hands and index designs are reminiscent of traditional Japanese military equipment.

The Citizen Murakumo tie-dyed washi paper dial model

　The Citizen 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Ref. AQ4106-26L features a dial made of indigo-dyed Japanese paper dyed using the traditional indigo dyeing technique "Murakumo Shibori." This technique involves compressing the fabric to create wrinkles, creating unique patterns through uneven dyeing. The pattern, created by the varying spacing and strength of the wrinkles, looks like a replica of clouds in the sky, hence the name.

　The wrinkles are also random, meaning that no two dials are alike, giving the watch a unique and distinctive finish.The case is made of Duratect DLC and the dial is surrounded by a black finish, highlighting the depth and expression of the dial's varying shades.

Two Citizen models incorporating eagle flapping wings

　The Citizen 30th Anniversary Model Ref. AQ4100-57C is based on the theme of "Flying into the Future." The dial features a pattern reminiscent of the flapping wings of an eagle, the symbol of The Citizen, expressing the dynamism of flying into the future. For The Citizen, the eagle symbolizes "always looking ahead and pursuing ideals" and "being with the wearer for a long time," and is a motif that appears on each of The Citizen's models.

　The dial is based on an ivory color, with a metallic sheen and clear texture, creating a finish with a sense of depth. The case and bracelet, both made of Duratect Platinum, complement the dial, and the combination with the dial pattern evokes the image of a noble eagle.

　A mechanical model was also announced, featuring a dial with the theme "Flight to the Future." The Citizen mechanical model is equipped with the Cal. 0200 automatic mechanical movement. The Cal. 0200 was developed in collaboration with La Joux-Perret of Switzerland, which the Citizen Watch Group brought on board in 2012 to further enhance its mechanical watch development capabilities. It boasts a modern design, free-sprung movement, a LIGA molded escapement, a power reserve of approximately 60 hours, and high basic performance, with a static accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day as measured by a 17-day accuracy test.

　While using the same motif as the solar-powered Eco-Drive model Ref. AQ4100-57C, this model has a subdued texture and a dynamic electroformed pattern, resulting in a three-dimensional, soft finish.

Citizen Promaster "Aqualand" 40th Anniversary Model

　To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Aqualand, the world's first wristwatch equipped with an electronic depth gauge, the Promaster Aqualand 40th Anniversary Model Ref. JP2008-06E has been announced.

　The Aqualand is characterized by its styling, with a depth sensor at 9 o'clock, a crown at 4 o'clock, and an LCD display at 12 o'clock, and these are also reproduced in this model. Another feature of the Aqualand is that this LCD display, combined with three push buttons, realizes functions to assist diving, and this model also follows suit.

　The overall design has been reproduced in its iconic styling, but the case has been given a honed gray finish with gold accents, creating a special look befitting the 40th anniversary. The case back also features a logo commemorating the 40th anniversary.

The fifth collaboration model between Promaster and Mont-Bell

　The fifth collaboration with outdoor brand mont-bell, the Citizen Promaster x mont-bell collaboration model, has also been released, with four models. This collaboration has been ongoing since 2016, and each model has been popular. The reason for its popularity is that the models are tough, easy to see, easy to use, and highly practical, which is typical of mont-bell, which offers items that meet a wide range of needs, from casual outdoor enthusiasts to hardcore enthusiasts who tackle harsh environments.

　The greatest feature of this collaboration model is its one-piece case made of Super Titanium™. This structure differs from standard cases in that it has no back cover and is boat-shaped. The advantages of this structure are that it eliminates the risk of moisture entering through the back cover, and the boat shape makes it easy to ensure strength. Furthermore, this model is made lightweight using titanium, achieving performance that matches active scenes.

　Four variations are available, all sharing the same highly visible dial design, featuring an arrow-shaped hour hand and thick minute hand coated with luminous paint, and large, clear Arabic numerals. The two black dial models both come with bracelets: a titanium-colored case model and a black model coated with Duratect MRK and Duratect DLC. The blue and cream dial models come with leather straps, while a silicone rubber strap is also included.

Promaster "Sky" Blue Impulse collaboration model

　As the sixth collaboration with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's acrobatic flying team, Blue Impulse, two new Promaster "Sky" models have been announced: a bracelet model and a leather strap model. These limited edition models commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Blue Impulse's founding. These models feature the Promaster Sky's signature chronograph and aviation slide rule, offering a variety of functions essential for pilots.

　The case size is 40.0mm, making it compact among the Citizen Promaster Sky models, and is designed to fit a wider range of users. The dial, bezel, and endpaper ring feature alternating blue and white, incorporating the Blue Impulse team colors. The dial and case back also feature the Blue Impulse emblem, and the watch will be delivered to the user in a special box containing a flight scene card of the Blue Impulse's "T-4."

　The blue dial model comes with a bracelet and is limited to 900 pieces worldwide, while the white dial model comes with a leather strap and is limited to 500 pieces worldwide.

The second two models in the "Attesa Blue Universe Collection"

　2025 marks the 55th anniversary of Citizen's pioneering use of titanium in its watches. To mark this anniversary, limited edition Attesa models using titanium have been announced. These include two models from the "Blue Universe Collection," part of the Citizen Attesa Act line, which offers highly functional watches perfect for business situations. This collection, which debuted in 2022, features Duratect DLC Blue, a material that creates a blue hue.

　The Eco-Drive GPS satellite radio-controlled watch, Ref. CC4106-74E, is a multi-function model with three subdials. The black dial is inlaid with glitter, evoking the twinkling stars of outer space. In addition to functions such as world time, dual time, chronograph, alarm, and perpetual calendar, it also features a GPS satellite radio wave reception function that can correct the time to match your current location.

　The Eco-Drive radio-controlled watch, Ref. CB3046-76E, is a simple three-hand model. With a case diameter of 39mm and a thickness of 9.7mm, it fits comfortably under a suit cuff, making it ideal for business situations. This model also features a black dial with glitter accents, evoking the night sky and outer space. It also features a world time function and perpetual calendar, making it highly practical.

A collaboration model between JAXA and Citizen Attesa

　The ATTESA Actline JAXA Label HTV-X Limited Edition Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch has been announced as a collaboration model with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). This watch is inspired by the new space station resupply vehicle, the HTV-X. Based on the popular Ref. AT8185-62E, it features a yellow gold color scheme inspired by the HTV-X's body color.

　The indicator ring surrounding the dial is a deep blue, evoking the wing-like solar cells of the HTV-X. The case is finished with black Duratect DLC, evoking the image of outer space. Furthermore, the case back is engraved with the HTV-X mission mark.

Limited edition model with vibrant structural color dial and bezel insert

　Based on the popular "Attesa Act Line" Ref. AT8185-62E, two regular models with sapphire crystal bezel inserts have been announced, along with a limited edition model with a dial and bezel in vibrant structural colors.

　While pigment-based paints, which are commonly used for coloring, are sprayed with pigments that reflect only the color you want to show, structural colors are produced by thin films or fine structures that cause interference, diffraction, and reflection of light, just like how soap bubbles made from clear liquid appear rainbow-colored, and the ink that produces this effect is called structural color ink.

　By using structural colors on the dial, the appearance changes depending on the light incident on it, adding a sense of transparency and depth. This model uses this structural color on the dial and bezel. The bezel insert is made of sapphire crystal with edges cut into a geometric pattern, allowing the structural color applied to the base to be seen.

　The case is made of Super Titanium™ and is coated with black Duratect DLC to bring out the vibrant blue and green structural colors.

Three limited edition models featuring Duratect Platinum, the first for Attesa

　Attesa has long been popular for its "crystalline titanium" models, which allow users to enjoy the unique look of titanium. Three limited-edition models featuring Duratect Platinum have been added to the lineup. While this surface hardening technology has been used by brands such as The Citizen, this marks the first time it has been used by Attesa.

　Crystalline titanium is made by cooling titanium from a high temperature, making its structure uneven and revealing a unique pattern on the surface. Just like minerals in nature, each pattern has a different appearance, making it unique. Because the material expands during this heat treatment, it requires a high level of skill to be used in watch parts that require high precision. This model uses this crystalline titanium for the center link of the bracelet.

The Actline Eco-Drive GPS Satellite Radio-Controlled Watch Platinum Shine Collection Ref. CC4076-65A is a model equipped with a time correction function using GPS satellite radio waves. Its Cal. F950 movement is positioned as the top of Citizen's Eco-Drive GPS satellite radio-controlled movements, achieving the world's fastest time of just three seconds when receiving time information only. The Actline Eco-Drive Radio-Controlled Watch Platinum Shine Collection Ref. AT8284-61A and Ref. CB0284-66A are models equipped with automatic time correction via radio wave reception; the former is a chronograph model, and the latter is a three-hand model.

Two limited edition models of the "Eco-Drive One" small second model

　Two limited edition models have also been added to the ultra-thin quartz watch "Eco-Drive One." The base small second model is popular for its classic and elegant design, with a thickness of 4.5mm and a dial design featuring bar indexes and a small second hand.

　The white and black two-tone dial model, Ref. AQ5010-01A, has a stainless steel case coated with Duratect Platinum. The dial is white with a black outer rim and small seconds hand. The gold-colored bar indexes and indicator hands create a classic and elegant look. This model is limited to 160 pieces.

　The dark blue dial model, Ref. AQ5022-02L, features a Duratect Amber Yellow case. The dial is a deep dark blue, with gold-colored indexes and hands that complement the case color. The dark blue color adds a modern touch to the nostalgic styling. This model is limited to 250 pieces.

Campanola's 25th anniversary model, themed around starry skies and space

Campanola is a collection that was launched in 2000 with the theme that watches are not just a tool for telling time, but also about "enjoying time, enjoying everyday life, and enjoying individuality." The design concept is based on the "beauty of the sky," which confines the infinite universe in a small space enclosed by glass, and many of the models feature starry skies and outer space. In addition, many of the models feature highly three-dimensional designs with multi-layered structures, incorporating cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship.

　The models planned to commemorate Campanola's 25th anniversary are the "Campanola 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Cosmosign Constellation Dial Model" Ref. AO4010-51M and the "Campanola 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Cosmosign Moon Phase Dial Model" Ref. AA7804-10F.

　Like the previous model, the Ref. AO4010-51M features an ultra-precise star chart based on 35 degrees north latitude, and the commemorative model's design features a gorgeous combination of a royal blue flange and gold-colored Roman indexes and hands.

　The Ref. AA7804-10F features a moon phase dial that visually shows the phases of the moon, as with previous models, and also displays the positions of the moon and the sun, as well as the times of rise and set of the sun. As a special design for this commemorative model, the case is finished in black with a Duratect DLC finish, and the royal blue flange is combined with gold-colored Roman indexes and hands.

Three limited edition models with the theme of "Hoshikyo"

　As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, three models from the limited edition "Hoshikyo" series have been announced. The lineup includes "Mechanical," "Minute Repeater," and "Grand Complication." Each model, a first for the brand, features Duratect DLC on both the case and bracelet, creating an all-black appearance. Gold accents are added to the design, evoking the pitch-black universe and sparkling stars.

　The mechanical model, Ref. NZ0004-57E, features a lacquered dial created by Tetsuo Gido, a traditional Aizu lacquerware craftsman. It features mother-of-pearl inlay, in which pieces of shell are applied one by one by hand, resulting in a limited edition of 150 pieces, with no two pieces having the same look.

　The Ref. AH7064-52E is a quartz watch equipped with a minute repeater that tells the time by sound, an alarm, and a perpetual calendar. The dial features an electroformed pattern, and is decorated with gold-colored hands and ring parts. The gradient color on the back cover visually expresses the spread of sound.

　The Ref. AH4084-51E, also a quartz model, is a grand complication that combines the four major complicated mechanisms of minute repeater, moon phase, perpetual calendar, and chronograph.
