High specs and unique design will captivate watch enthusiasts!

Diving watches were originally developed for the military and professional divers as specialized equipment. Later, as marine sports became more popular, they became more widely available to the general public. However, initially, many of the models had a somewhat casual or tool-watch feel, perhaps because they were intended for use in leisure activities.

As the luxury watch boom grew, diver's watches also gradually began to move up the road to luxury. Today, many brands are releasing luxury models with elaborately finished exteriors and high-spec in-house movements, and diver's watches have expanded into a major genre of luxury watches.

At first glance, a diver's watch designed for use in harsh environments and a luxury wristwatch made with exquisite craftsmanship may seem like an incompatible combination, but in today's world where interpretations of dress codes have become more diverse, it is not uncommon to see a diver's watch paired with a business suit, and it is gaining attention for its sporty design and excellent functionality.

So, this time we will introduce our top 5 recommendations from among the luxury diver's watches costing over 100 million yen.Dive watches are not necessarily only suitable for summer beach trips.

Blancpain "Fifty Fathoms Automatic" Ref. 5007 1130 71S

Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatic

Blancpain "Fifty Fathoms Automatic" Ref. 5007 1130 71S
The Fifty Fathoms is said to be the ancestor of modern diver's watches. In 2025, the long-awaited smaller diameter model was achieved, but the watch still boasts water resistance of 300m. Automatic (Cal. 1150). 28 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve of approximately 100 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 38.2mm, thickness 12mm). Water resistance to 300m. 2,706,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Blancpain Boutique Ginza Tel. 03-6254-7233

The Fifty Fathoms is a Blancpain masterpiece that was released in 1953 and laid the foundation for modern diver's watches. Developed after Jean-Jacques Pfister, who served as Blancpain's CEO from 1950, nearly got lost during a dive and realized the need for a highly functional diver's watch, the Fifty Fathoms featured a bezel for measuring dive time with a locking mechanism that could only be rotated if pressed, as well as 100m water resistance and magnetic resistance.

The Fifty Fathoms remains one of Blancpain's most popular collections to this day. However, the large 45mm case of the regular model, which has been on sale since 2007, was not for everyone. However, in 2024, the company finally introduced a 42mm case model, and in 2025, added an even smaller 38mm case model to the collection, providing an attractive option for watch enthusiasts with a wide range of tastes.

Despite the difference in size, the basic design is the same, and the 38mm diameter model featured here also features a retro design that inherits the design of the first model. The sunburst-finished dial, combined with Arabic numerals and triangular indexes, combines elegance and sportiness, and the bezel covered with sapphire crystal brings a lustrous sparkle.

The movement is the slim, small-diameter Cal. 1150, which differs from the 45mm and 42mm case models. It boasts high specifications, including an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring and a long power reserve of approximately 100 hours.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ref. 217.30.42.21.01.00

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ref. 217.30.42.21.01.003
The Seamaster Planet Ocean underwent a model change in 2025. While the case design has changed significantly, the iconic dial gives a sense of continuity with previous models. Automatic (Cal. 8912). 39 jewels. 25,200 vph. Power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Stainless steel and titanium case (diameter 42mm, thickness 13.79mm). Water resistant to 600m. 1,342,000 yen (tax included). (Inquiries) Omega Tel. 0570-000087

Omega's Seamaster Planet Ocean was updated to its fourth generation in 2025. The Planet Ocean is a high-spec diver's watch with a water resistance of 600m that was released in 2005, and is also known for being the Bond watch in the 2008 film Quantum of Solace.

The biggest change with this update is the case design. Previous models featured twisted lugs and a helium escape valve at 10 o'clock, but this model has been changed to a sharper case design with a straight line motif, and the helium escape valve has been eliminated.
The case structure has also been revised, and utilizing the technology cultivated in the development of the Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep, the case back and inner ring are made of grade 5 titanium. Another notable feature is that the case thickness has been reduced to 13.79mm, more than 2mm thinner than the previous model, while maintaining 600m water resistance.

The stainless steel bracelet has been redesigned to have the same sharp design as the case, and the polished center links add to the elegance of a luxury watch.

The movement is the automatic Cal. 8912. It is equipped with a coaxial escapement and silicon balance spring, and has been certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS, making it highly practical.

(Inquiries) Breitling Japan Tel. 0120-105-707

The Superocean Heritage collection inherits the design of the Superocean Ref. 1004, which was released in 1957. Its appeal lies in its classic design reminiscent of the dawn of diver's watches and its excellent specifications, which incorporate modern technology.

The deep blue dial has a sunray finish, and together with the long bullet-shaped indexes, it creates a dressy atmosphere. The large dot overlapping the index at 12 o'clock and the arrow-shaped hour hand are designs reminiscent of the original. The indexes and hands are coated with luminous paint, making it possible to read the time even in the dark underwater.

The 18K red gold bezel is fitted with a polished, scratch-resistant blue ceramic insert. The stainless steel case features a screw-down crown and is water resistant to 200m. The understated design, with its clean lugs and side view without crown guards, makes it easy to wear in a wide range of situations.

The strap is made of rubber with a mesh pattern, and its soft feel and folding buckle make it comfortable to wear.

This model is equipped with Breitling's in-house three-hand automatic movement, Cal. B31, which boasts a power reserve of approximately 78 hours. The bridges and main plate are decorated with Côtes de Genève and can be viewed through the caseback.

Automatic winding (Cal. 3230). 31 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel case (diameter 41mm). Water resistant to 300m.

Along with Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner has shaped the history of diver's watches. Since its launch in 1953, it has undergone repeated updates without major design changes, and has continued to improve its level of perfection as a luxury diver's watch.

The current model has a slightly larger case than previous models, measuring 41mm in diameter, but with minor adjustments to the details, such as wider lugs and sharper tapered lugs, the proportions have been revised to be more stylish than the previous 40mm case.

The black dial features indexes that combine dots, bars, and triangles, as well as the iconic hour and minute hands. The indexes and hands are coated with Chromalight, which glows blue in the dark, ensuring high visibility day and night. The bezel, which has a unidirectional rotation prevention mechanism, uses an insert made of Cerachrom, which boasts high hardness, and you can enjoy its lustrous texture.

The case and bracelet are crafted from gleaming white Oystersteel, a material that is highly corrosion-resistant. A Triplock crown and a robust screw-down caseback ensure water resistance to 300m.

The watch is equipped with the automatic Cal. 3230 movement, which offers exceptional practicality with high accuracy of -2 to +2 seconds per day, excellent magnetic resistance thanks to the blue Parachrom hairspring, shock resistance thanks to the Paraflex shock absorber, and a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

The Zenith Defy was released in 1969. This model is inspired by the Defy Diver, a diver's watch that was in the collection at the time. While incorporating design elements reminiscent of the original, such as the linear case lines and the dodecagonal bezel, it has been given a modern design befitting a current model.

The sunray-finished black dial features a double Z motif pattern. The thick, clear indexes and hands are generously coated with luminous paint, providing excellent visibility. A date display is located at the 3 o'clock position, ensuring convenience for everyday use.

The 12-sided bezel features a three-dimensional structure with a ceramic unidirectional ring on the outside. The case, which is polished to a hairline finish, is made of lightweight, corrosion-resistant titanium. A sharp crown guard is secured with screws at the 3 o'clock position, and a helium escape valve for use during saturation diving is located at the 9 o'clock position.

In addition to the titanium bracelet, the watch also comes with a rubber strap and a fabric strap. All of these straps are designed to blend seamlessly with the case and feature an interchangeable system that allows them to be easily changed by operating the buttons on the back of the lugs.
