Montblanc and Oakwood launch their first collaboration

I visited Oakwood Premier Tokyo because Mont Blanc and Oakwood were collaborating to host a high tea. Oakwood is a serviced residence and hotel brand that operates 12 properties in Japan, mainly in Tokyo. I had imagined it as a long-term stay, but this hotel offers stays starting from one night, and is conveniently located just a short walk from Tokyo Station. Taking the elevator to the lobby on the sixth floor, an elegant space unfolds before my eyes. The high tea was held in the lounge, which offers a spectacular view of the city center.
The concept is "awakening inspiration and concentration through the time spent writing." This collaboration was born out of a resonation between Montblanc's philosophy of valuing the culture of handwriting, even in the digital age, and Oakwood's brand concept of pursuing comfort in everyday life and cherishing quality time in everyday life. Anticipation is high for this new type of high tea, centered around "writing" and "tasting."
Enjoy food and drinks that express the world of Mont Blanc

Each of the savory dishes and sweets that adorn the high tea exudes a distinctive presence. Mont Blanc's brand logo is a white star that resembles the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps, and this tart features this design. It features cacao nibs, a brain food believed to help maintain concentration. Other impressive sweets include the elegant matcha Basque cheesecake and black sesame panna cotta. Savory dishes include the black slider, made with mackerel, which is said to have brain-boosting properties, as well as canapés with Camembert and prosciutto, and a quinoa salad with black olives and feta cheese. The galette roll, served on a round plate, is drizzled with dressing from an ink bottle.

The playful spirit that evokes the world of Montblanc is also present in the drinks. The welcome drink in the photo is made to resemble a drop of fountain pen ink. It is served without being intentionally mixed. The exquisite gradation is captivating to look at. There are also four original cocktails or mocktails, as well as coffee, tea, and soft drinks. There will also be a selection of six Ronnefeldt teas, which are from Germany, a country with the same history as Montblanc.
Enjoy the time you spend writing with Montblanc writing instruments

One of the attractions of this high tea is the opportunity to experience writing letters while savoring a hearty meal of food and drinks. Montblanc writing implements and original postcards will be placed on guests' tables, allowing them to pick up the pen and write letters and messages. Another great feature is that guests can take the postcards home with them, along with the original stamp, and mail them.

During the high tea, two special workshops featuring calligrapher Maki Shimano will be held on limited dates and times.
The Bespoke Signature Event will be held on Sunday, February 8th, 2026 and Saturday, April 25th, from 1:30pm to 4:00pm, where customers can create a one-of-a-kind original signature tailored to their individuality and requests. Only one group can attend each time slot, and the completed signature will be printed on a card and handed to them. If you purchase a designated writing instrument at the Montblanc Ginza flagship store within one month of the event, you will also receive a free signature engraving service. It's sure to be a memorable piece.
(Editor's note: At the time of publication, reservations for February 8th and March 22nd were fully booked.)

During the tasting session, I had the opportunity to experience the "Bespoke Signature Event." While many customers had their own names written, I ordered my son's name, "Ouri." While vividly spelling the letter "O," Shimano carefully explained how the impression changes depending on whether you start from the top or bottom, even with something as simple as the letter "O." While we see a lot of writing on our computers and smartphones every day, just looking at the elegantly written letters in front of us felt like our hearts were enriched.
