Citizen "Eco-Drive PHOTON"

Citizen "Eco-Drive"

The "Eco-Drive PHOTON," commemorating the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive, features a multi-layered dial inspired by the famous "double-slit experiment." It is also equipped with the new Cal.E036 movement, which can run for approximately 365 days on a single full charge.

Citizen has announced the "Eco-Drive PHOTON" to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive. It is equipped with the new Cal.E036 movement, which can run for approximately 365 days on a single full charge, and its design features a multi-layered dial inspired by the "double-slit experiment," which is famous in the fields of optics and quantum mechanics. Two models will be released to coincide with the announcement, and both will be limited to 5000 pieces worldwide.

Similar to the double-slit experiment, the dial of this watch features two metal plates with slits placed side by side, behind which is a structural color film that reflects light of a specific wavelength to produce color. This creates a three-dimensional effect from the overlapping slits and results in an original design where the color tone changes depending on the incident light.

The case and bracelet are made of Citizen's proprietary Super Titanium, which is lightweight and highly scratch-resistant. The rounded octagonal case and the bracelet with short pitches are seamlessly connected, resulting in a modern look that showcases the advanced nature of Eco-Drive technology.

The Citizen "Eco-Drive Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Limited Edition" Ref. AQ4091-56W

A special Eco-Drive 50th anniversary model has been released, combining indigo dyeing with plant dyeing using Ibuki kariyasu, which has been used as a dye since ancient times, to express "Chitose Midori," the green of pine needles, which is considered a symbol of unchangingness.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive, the "Eco-Drive 50th Anniversary Limited Edition" features a dial made of washi paper dyed in a deep Chitose-midori (a type of green) using plant dyes. This green is a traditional Japanese color derived from pine needles, and is a popular and auspicious color because pine needles, which remain green throughout the four seasons, are considered a symbol of permanence.

A distinctive feature of this piece is the fusion of indigo dyeing and plant dyeing, which achieves a deep, rich green reminiscent of pine needles. While plant dyeing offers the appeal of producing gentle, natural hues, it is generally considered difficult to achieve vibrant colors with it. Therefore, this piece combines the depth of indigo dyeing with plant dyeing using Ibuki kariyasu, a plant traditionally used as a yellow dye, to create the Chitose green. Although Citizen has previously employed various expressive techniques incorporating washi paper, this is their first use of plant dyeing.

The dial features a gold-colored eagle mark and second hand commemorating the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive, creating a striking contrast against the deep Chitose green color. The case and bracelet are made of lightweight and scratch-resistant Super Titanium, and combined with the Eco-Drive Cal.A060 movement with a perpetual calendar and an accuracy of ±5 seconds per year, it achieves the same high level of practicality as previous models, which is another attractive feature.

Citizen Attesa "Shades of Red" Ref. CC4077-71Z

Citizen Attesa "Shades of Red"

To commemorate the total lunar eclipse that will be visible in Japan on March 3, 2026, Citizen has released a limited edition Attesa model with a dial that depicts the red moon seen during a total lunar eclipse.

The new Citizen Attesa "Shades of Red" Ref. CC4077-71Z is a limited edition model that expresses the "blood moon" created by a total lunar eclipse. It is based on the "ACT Line Eco-Drive GPS Satellite Radio-Controlled Watch." The ACT Line is a lineup themed on supporting people who continue to move forward while facing difficulties, and is characterized by a sporty design that matches an active lifestyle and a wealth of functions.

A total lunar eclipse is a phenomenon in which the sun, Earth, and moon align in a straight line, causing the moon to be hidden in the Earth's shadow, and only red light reaches the moon, making it appear red. This model is inspired by the fact that this celestial spectacle, which can only be seen once every few years, will be visible in Japan on March 3, 2026.

The dial, which features numerous functions such as day of the week display, function display, second time zone, and world time, depicts the red appearance of the moon during a total lunar eclipse. This is achieved by layering the moon's pattern onto a mother-of-pearl base, resulting in a unique and appealing finish with depth. The bezel ring is also red, echoing the color of the moon, while the case and bracelet are finished in black, reminiscent of the night when a lunar eclipse is visible. Furthermore, it boasts high practicality thanks to its comprehensive functions, including automatic time correction via GPS satellite radio waves.

Eco-Drive (Cal. H874) light-powered movement. Approximately 2.5 years of operation on a full charge. Ti case (41.5mm diameter, 10.8mm thickness). 10 ATM water resistance. Limited edition of 2200 pieces worldwide. 198,000 yen (tax included).

The Citizen Attesa "Shades of Red" Ref.BY1005-73Z, like the Ref.CC4077-71Z, is a model themed around the moon that appears red during a total lunar eclipse. The Ref.BY1005-73Z is based on a model equipped with the "Lunar Program," an automatic lunar phase calculation function. The Lunar Program works in conjunction with the time correction function via radio wave reception, calculating and displaying the lunar phase within the movement based on the acquired date and time, as well as information on whether it is in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere.

The dial features a dark red base with a 3D inkjet print that evokes the uneven surface of the moon, creating a rough, three-dimensional texture that perfectly captures the blood moon. Furthermore, the moon phase display at the 6 o'clock position uses pearl printing to depict a starry, jet-black night sky, upon which a blood moon is rendered using red metallic electroplating and printing.

This model boasts a moon phase display, a solar-powered Eco-Drive power generation function, a time correction function via radio wave reception, and a perpetual calendar, making it a highly practical timepiece.

Citizen "Series Eight"

Citizen "Series Eight"

The new Citizen Series Eight model features a new design with a 39.3mm case diameter that incorporates global trends. With a thickness of just 10.4mm, it boasts a sporty yet sophisticated look.

The new Series Eight, a Japanese mechanical watch brand whose concept is "a Japanese brand that combines edgy modern design with high practicality," features a new design that incorporates global trends, resulting in a compact and thin form factor. Three models have been announced: two regular models and a limited edition model featuring a forged carbon dial.

The case has been made thinner by optimizing each component, resulting in a thickness of 10.4mm for this model. While maintaining its slim profile, the separate-part structure, a characteristic of the Series 8, accentuates the three-dimensional and sharp design, creating a well-defined finish.

The regular model, Ref. NB6080-51W, features a silver-colored stainless steel case and a light green dial. The dial is adorned with a signature pattern of the Series 8, inspired by the uniquely Japanese Ichimatsu pattern and the city skyline. While previous models featured this pattern across the entire dial, this model is characterized by the addition of a flat area around the outer edge, creating a contrast.

The gold-colored model, Ref. NB6085-57W, features a gold-colored dial. While primarily based on a plated yellow gold color, the combination of pink gold-toned parts, referred to as "warm gold," prevents the design from becoming monotonous, resulting in a more expressive finish.

Citizen Collection "TSUYOSA" Ref.NJ0157-81L

Citizen Collection "TSUYOSA" Ref.NJ0157-81L

The latest addition to the Citizen Collection "TSUYOSA" is a collaboration model with seconde/seconde/. Its distinctive feature is a design where the minute hand is shaped like a sword, with the sword seemingly cutting the hand itself.

The new Ref. NJ0157-81L from Citizen's popular "TSUYOSA" collection, known for its affordable price, high quality, and excellent design, is a collaboration model with seconde/seconde/. This marks the first time Citizen and seconde/seconde/ have teamed up, and the world of seconde/seconde/ has been incorporated into the simple design of TSUYOSA.

Second/Second/ is a brand created by artist and watch customizer Romaric André. The name Second/Second/ evokes "power" and "strength" from the name TSUYOSA, and incorporates a sword-themed design as a symbol of this. The pixelated style reminiscent of anime and video games, seen in previous Second/Second/ designs, is also used in this piece, and the minute hand is designed with a sword motif. A highlight is the design in which the minute hand rotates, giving the impression that it is slicing the index in two. The dial uses a vibrant blue color, reminiscent of "Japan Blue."

The theme of this watch is "Being smaller has never stopped minutes from slicing hours into pieces," and the design connects this to the minute hand, which points to the small entity of "minutes," slicing through the 12-hour index, symbolizing the larger entity of time. This theme is also engraved on the case back, resulting in a highly meaningful finish.
