Private Eyes bracelets for everyday use with antique watches

　Many antique watches and those from before the 1990s are attractive. However, they don't come with bracelets for everyday wear. Even if they do exist, old Gay & Flair bracelets have become collector's items and are extremely expensive. Old American-made extension bracelets can still be purchased cheaply, but due to their narrow lug width, there aren't many watches that match them. Tyconaut bracelets have improved in quality compared to the past, but they are too heavy for older watches.

　The only hope, or perhaps even a blessing, at present is the original bracelet "GF" series released by the antique watch shop Private Eyes. Since its release a few years ago, it has quietly become popular among watch enthusiasts, and last year the quality was further improved by changing the manufacturing factory, and the number of variations was also increased.

The Type-3 buckle is reminiscent of the classic Gay & Flair bracelets. While not as precisely crafted as modern buckles, this design suits older watches.

　Personally, I welcome the addition of the 22mm "Type-3" model. I was so impressed that I ended up buying four of these original bracelets. Now I can take my old watches outside without any mercy.
　The original bracelets sold by Private Eyes are basically replicas of old Gay & Frear bracelets. "Type-1" and "Type-2" are nostalgic seven-link "winding bracelets" that closely resemble the rice bracelets that came with Omega watches in the 1940s. The bracelet width is 16mm, and there are five lug widths: 20, 19, 18, 17, and 16mm. Types-1 and 2 also differ in finish. Type-1 is available in two finishes: satin and polished, while Type-2 is a mix of both. Note that Type-1 and Type-2 are also available in gold-plated and two-tone versions.

　My personal recommendation is the newly added "Type-3." This model features a nine-link bracelet, a width of 18mm, and wider lug widths of 22, 20, 19, and 18mm. As the website claims, "it pairs well with oversized cases of 37mm or more," it will likely match larger cases. Like the Type-1, it comes in both satin and polished finishes. It would look undeniably beautiful with 1990s chronographs, such as the Sinn "903."

　The Type-4 is a five-link bracelet. It may be a bit picky about the watch it's worn with, but it would likely complement a 1940s watch. It also comes in a mix of satin and polished finishes, and is available in five lug widths: 20, 19, 18, 17, and 16mm.

　Because it's a nostalgic "winding bracelet," there's more play on both sides compared to the latest bracelets made from machined stainless steel. However, its lightness is appealing, and the extra play makes it easier to improve the fit. Of course, it won't balance well with a watch with a large head, but if you wear a watch with a plastic crystal and a light "head," you'll likely find it comfortable to wear.

　In addition, this bracelet, despite being a simple "wrap bracelet," does not easily pinch hair. As expected from a long-established antique dealer, every detail has been carefully considered.
