"Excalibur Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar"

Roger Dubuis' latest creation is the "Excalibur Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar," which expresses astronomy through exceptional watchmaking technology. This timepiece features the newly developed Cal.RD850 movement, which includes a perpetual calendar, a high-precision moon phase mechanism, and a bi-retrograde display using Roger Dubuis' unique elliptical scale.

Roger Dubuis' latest creation, the "Excalibur Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar," features the newly developed Cal.RD850 movement, which includes a highly accurate perpetual calendar and moon phase display.

The Cal.RD850's perpetual calendar takes into account the difference in the number of days in each month and leap years, providing accuracy that requires no correction until 2100. It features a subdial for the month at 12 o'clock, a leap year indicator disc at 1 o'clock, a date display at 3 o'clock, and a bi-retrograde day of the week display at 9 o'clock. Each retrograde instantly returns to its starting point when its cycle ends, resulting in a highly legible design. Furthermore, compared to Roger Dubuis' conventional perpetual calendar models, the Cal.RD850 employs a corrector for adjusting the month display, making adjustments easy.

While many moon phase displays manage the cycle using approximately 29.5 days, the moon phase display at the 6 o'clock position on this watch is based on the actual lunar cycle of 29 days, 12 hours, and 45 minutes, resulting in extremely high accuracy. This allows it to accurately display the lunar phase for 122 years. Furthermore, adjustments can be made with a single click, enhancing its practicality.

Each of these displays unfolds on a multi-layered, three-dimensional dial. The outer perimeter features a double-surface flange with a broad azure finish, and within it are various counters made of astral blue mother-of-pearl, aptly named the "ecliptic counters." The leap year indicator disc features a circular brushed finish and gray coating, creating a contrast with the other counters.

The "ecliptic counter," crafted from astral blue mother-of-pearl, changes its appearance depending on the viewing angle, and features an angle-polished finish on the gold edges. The background showcases the movement's components, all finished to an exceptionally high standard, allowing the wearer to appreciate its three-dimensionality.

The moon phase display combines astral blue mother-of-pearl, an aventurine disc reminiscent of a starry sky, and an 18K pink gold moon motif floating within it. The moon motif is laser-engraved to express the moon's expressive features. Behind these displays are a gray-coated main plate and bridges with extremely high-level finishes, including inner-angle finishing, creating a three-dimensional and deep design. The movement is, of course, Geneva Seal certified.

The 40mm diameter case, which inherits the design codes of the Excalibur collection, is made of 18K pink gold and features a three-dimensional finish using a combination of polished and satin finishes. It is limited to 188 pieces.
