A special edition model has been created in collaboration with the popular Star Wars drama series.
Citizen offers a truly diverse range of brands, from the accessible "Citizen Collection" to "The Citizen," which showcases the pinnacle of watchmaking technology. Leveraging its product range and wide design range, the company regularly releases models in collaboration with popular content. Among these, the Star Wars models have been produced numerous times, likely due to the film's global popularity.
These special edition models have featured designs that appeal to fans of the original comics, ranging from pop designs inspired by mascot characters like "C-3PO" and "R2-D2" to bold representations of "Darth Vader" and "Darth Maul." Furthermore, popular models from the "Record Label" series are often chosen as the base, and combined with their limited-edition releases, they attract considerable attention each time they are released.
Then, in 2026, the latest addition to this lineage was the "STAR WARS The Mandalorian Beskar Model." This limited-edition model is based on the concept of "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Glogo," the first live-action Star Wars drama series and the film released on May 22, 2026. The design motif is based on "Beskar," a fictional alloy that appears in the film. The release is scheduled for May 22, coinciding with the film's release date, and will be limited to only 1400 pieces worldwide.

Up until now, models have focused on individual Star Wars episodes and main characters, but this new model puts the spotlight on the spin-off series, "The Mandalorian." "The Mandalorian" is set five years after the 1983 film "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi." In stark contrast to the protagonists of previous series who fought with mystical powers, it tells the story of the bounty hunter Mandalorian/Din Djarin, who engages in gritty gunfights, creating a world that is quite different from the original.
A notable feature of the new model is the adoption of a wavy, dark-toned pattern to express this worldview. This pattern replicates the design of "Beskar," a legendary alloy in the film. This pattern is applied to the entire dial, including the sub-dials, giving it a mystical quality reminiscent of Damascus steel, while also presenting a sharp, monochrome look.
Furthermore, this pattern is also applied to the inner links of the bracelet using a new technology called "surface hardening laser," which hardens the areas where the laser is applied. In addition, Duratect DLC is layered on top, resulting in a unified appearance, and the dark black areas with the striped pattern are even more scratch-resistant.
What caught my attention in this model was how the Beskar pattern subtly conveyed a sense of exclusivity. My previous image of special editions was that they were primarily "easy-to-understand" designs that prominently featured details symbolizing popular characters or content.
For example, in the case of Star Wars, incorporating lightsabers and spacefighters would be the easiest way to create a sense of exclusivity. However, while this model features a unique swirling dial pattern, the overall tone is very subdued, giving the impression that excessive characterization has been toned down. This makes it easy to incorporate into fashion, both on and off duty, just like the regular Citizen Attesa (hereinafter Attesa) models.
Taking a peek at its ingenious details amidst daily life and business, and letting your imagination wander to the grand space opera depicted in the film—this kind of adult hobby enjoyment is one of the factors that will enhance your satisfaction with this game after purchase.

The base model for this timepiece is a chronograph from the Attesa "ACT Line," which is popular for its relatively simple design. The layout, featuring two prominent vertical sub-dials with a 24-hour display, strikes a perfect balance between sporty and understated.
Furthermore, while existing models of the same type often use accent colors on the hands and indices to ensure visibility and provide visual interest, this model eliminates these elements, resulting in a single-tone design that makes the Besker pattern stand out as the main feature.
In terms of functionality, it boasts a comprehensive suite of practical features typical of Attesa watches, including Eco-Drive light-powered technology that frees users from the hassle of regular battery changes, a chronograph, and world time functionality. Furthermore, its radio wave reception capability allows it to receive standard radio waves from Japan, China, Europe, and the United States, and its stable accuracy is maintained by technologies such as JIS Class 1 magnetic resistance, shock detection, and automatic hand correction. It can be said that it has more than enough specifications for an everyday wristwatch.
Incidentally, because Eco-Drive generates electricity by transmitting light through the dial, in the case of chronograph models, the sub-dial area is often the only part that is made transparent. However, in this model, a method is adopted in which light is captured by the entire dial, achieving both a bold Besque pattern and light power generation. This is only possible thanks to the large light-receiving area, the high efficiency of generating electricity even from faint light, and excellent power-saving technology, and is a specification that only Citizen, a leader in this field, could achieve.

As described above, while this model is special, its assertiveness is remarkably understated, making it a watch that is easy to wear every day, including in business settings. Since it is based on a popular design that has been used many times in the "ACT Line," it stands apart from watches that overtly emphasize their individuality, and can be described as a very solid and reliable timepiece.
However, it's not without its special feel, as is typical of limited edition models. From the mystical Beskar pattern to other details not usually seen, it's adorned with special touches. Furthermore, it comes with exclusive special packaging, and there's even a tote bag giveaway campaign, making it a timepiece that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the original work.
While writing this article, I did some light research on "The Mandalorian," and even though I'm not very familiar with the film series, I found the story quite interesting, and it seems to be highly regarded by fans of the original work.
