　Born from the groundbreaking design concept of "a watch that won't break even if dropped," Casio's "G-SHOCK" now boasts an overwhelming presence in the domestic and international watch markets. Its diverse product range is one of its attractions, offering a wide variety from large, gadget-like models to stylish, slim models. In particular, 2026 is packed with new releases that will appeal even to those who don't usually wear watches, including a collaboration project with NIGO®, a global creator known as a legendary figure in the street fashion world, a special collaboration with Coca-Cola, and an anniversary model celebrating the 30th anniversary of the birth of "Pokémon." On the other hand, it is also a year to enjoy the recent trend of G-SHOCK's enhanced high-end models. Models that have given the G-SHOCK, which had a strong casual image, a sense of luxury by adopting metal materials for the exterior and incorporating cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship, were also a highlight this year.

　In this article, I will introduce five carefully selected G-SHOCK models that I personally find very desirable and would highly recommend purchasing, chosen from the nearly 100 G-SHOCK models announced as of August 2026.

G-SHOCK “MRG-B2100” Ref.MRG-B2100D-2AJR

　First, let's look at a model from the top-of-the-line "MR-G" series, which features hanada-iro (a shade of indigo) as its theme color. The inspiration for this model comes from the five-story pagoda, a national treasure, that stands deep in the mountains of Mount Haguro in Yamagata Prefecture, where the MR-G is manufactured. By incorporating hanada-iro, one of the shades of indigo dye, into the dial, which incorporates the traditional woodworking technique of kigumi (wood joinery), the scene of the morning mist enveloping the five-story pagoda is expressed.

　The MR-G, which served as the basis for this new model with such a theme, is G-SHOCK's top-of-the-line series, first released in 1996. The current lineup incorporates designs inspired by traditional Japanese colors and the armor of samurai warriors of the past, while actively using titanium and meticulously polishing it to achieve a high level of exterior quality. It has also gained immense popularity as a revival watch, with models that are rebuilds of classics such as the "Origin" and "Frogman."

One of these series, the "Gravitymaster," is known as the "Air G" and features models with robust performance suitable for pilots. The latest addition to this series is the "GWR-B3000," which we will discuss next.

　This model's development concept is "supersonic," exceeding Mach speed, and it boasts specifications that can withstand the intense G-forces inside the cockpit of a supersonic aircraft. Particularly noteworthy is the newly devised "dual hollow structure." This is an optimized version of the "Triple G Resist" toughness design, which withstands impact, centrifugal force, and vibration, created by AI, achieving complex aesthetic beauty and lightweight design while maintaining excellent durability.

　Other notable features include a newly developed dial that diffuses light and significantly reduces reflection, enhancing legibility. Furthermore, the movement has been revamped, incorporating aviation-oriented functions such as flight logging and dual time, as well as new technologies to mitigate the effects of shocks and magnetic fields on accuracy. While its appearance is less tool-like than previous models in the series, it represents a significant evolution towards a more professional-grade timepiece.

　The case size is rather large, with a diameter of 47.3mm and a thickness of 14.1mm, but the optimized case is lightweight, and the wide rubber strap contributes to a stable wearing experience. The blue variation selected for this review is also used in the key visual. The not-too-vibrant color, combined with the matte finish, achieves a balance between a stoic appearance and ease of everyday use.

G-SHOCK "MT-G" Ref.MTG-B4000BD-1AJF

　Next, we'll focus on the Ref. MTG-B4000BD-1AJF from the "MT-G" series, which is themed around the "fusion of resin and metal." This is the latest addition to the "MTG-B4000" series, which joined the lineup in 2025, and its appeal lies in its powerful, all-black look.

　The modern muscle car-like form of this vehicle is largely due to the uniquely shaped carbon fiber laminated frame. This was created through load simulations based on impact resistance data accumulated over many years by AI, and through co-creation with designers. The complex interlocking of metal parts and the layered structure of the side view create a sporty yet functionally beautiful design.

　Another notable feature of this model is the introduction of a "layer composite band" that combines metal and resin, unlike previous models which featured a rubber strap. This creates a contrast in textures throughout the watch due to the combination of different materials.

　Furthermore, the excellent durability of the "Dual Core Guard Structure," which robustly protects the module with resin and metal parts, remains intact. This refers to a double structure in which carbon-reinforced resin enclosing the module is sandwiched between the stainless steel bezel and case back, and it is equipped with 20 ATM water resistance as well as Triple G Resist, making it suitable for pilot watches.

　The case size is 45.3mm in diameter and 14.4mm thick, making it one of the larger MT-G models, yet the black color scheme gives it a refined and sleek appearance. In terms of functionality, like the models described so far, it includes smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and apps, as well as automatic time correction via standard radio waves, Tough Solar power, and an LED light.

G-SHOCK "Full Metal GMC-B2100" Ref. GMC-B2100ADS-1AJF

　From the popular "Full Metal" G-SHOCK series, which has been available since 2018, we've selected the Ref. GMC-B2100ADS-1AJF. While inheriting the design of the "2100" with its octagonal bezel, this model has a sporty look with the addition of a crown and a vertical three-subdial chronograph layout.

　The dial features a new silver metallic vapor deposition finish and is accented with black sub-dials. This gives the chronograph watch a more visually contrasting appearance compared to its predecessor. In addition, the digital display has been removed from the 4 o'clock position, replacing the calendar, resulting in a purely analog display that differs from the base model.

　The case, slightly larger than the three-hand 2100 design model, features a visually striking contrast achieved by using both polished and brushed finishes. This case is constructed from a stainless steel component that integrates the bezel, lugs, and case sides, with a fine resin cushioning layer in between, and a central case enclosing the module, resulting in an overall metallic feel and superior toughness.

　In terms of practicality, it retains features common to "full metal" G-SHOCK watches, such as Tough Solar, day of the week display, and smartphone connectivity. Furthermore, when switched to stopwatch mode, the second hand resets, allowing for analog time measurement. In this mode, the sub-dial at the 6 o'clock position, which normally displays dual time, functions as an hour and minute counter. Incidentally, this model has a radio wave reception system that supports five countries worldwide, but manual time adjustment is also possible using the crown.

G-SHOCK "GA-700 Series BLACK AND ELECTRO GREEN" Ref. GA-700BEG-1AJF

　Finally, let's introduce a G-SHOCK with a resin case. The Ref. GA-700BEG-1AJF belongs to a group of models named "BLACK AND ELECTRO GREEN." With a black-based case and dial, combined with a green display, it has an appearance reminiscent of electronic equipment used in the military.

　The base model, the "GA-700," is an analog-digital combination model boasting a dynamic case size of 53.4mm in diameter and 18.5mm in thickness. It features a design specifically tailored for measurement, with highly visible indices, bold hands, and three LCDs on the dial. The window at the 6 o'clock position allows for one-push start of the stopwatch from the normal time mode. Furthermore, during measurement, a mechanism temporarily retracts the hands that overlap the LCD, and a front button illuminates the digital display, allowing for instant reading of the measured time. This G-SHOCK truly reflects its function as a tool.

　Unlike the four models mentioned above, this model uses a primary battery. The battery life is approximately 5 years.
