Hirano is the founder of Fullcast Holdings Co., Ltd., a leading human resources service provider. He lost his father when he was in the third grade of elementary school and grew up in a single-parent household. After graduating from university, he got a job but quit after three years. After working part-time, he founded Resort World, its predecessor, at the age of 29. Two years later, he changed the company's name to Fullcast and started a light labor contracting business. Hirano himself worked as a registered light labor staff member and studied services for the industry. He dispelled the impression that light labor dispatch was "careless." He also increased the trust of dispatching clients by shifting registered staff's salaries from the following week to the same day, and by implementing wake-up calls to ensure late arrivals at work sites. As a result, the company grew rapidly, with peak sales exceeding 100 billion yen.
Hirota: What surprised me about your favorite watch was how well it's been cared for. There are signs of daily use, but it's not at all rough. I think this probably applies to your work as well. What do you think?
Hirano: I tend to look like a very aggressive and aggressive person (laughs), but I think that running a company is 7 to 8 percent defensive. I'll go for it when I'm really confident or when I think, "Okay, this is it." But all managers are rationalists, and I also have a strong sense of efficient management. I think it's better to be true to yourself rather than trying to look impressive. In the end, I think that whatever it is, whether it's a watch, a car, fashion, or a house, it has to be Hirano himself. If the Hirano brand isn't in order, whatever you wear won't shine as much. I think that polishing that up first is the priority.
