List Co., Ltd. was founded in 1991 after the collapse of the bubble economy as a real estate company with a strong community focus. Based on the philosophy of "providing a sense of excitement that goes beyond satisfaction to all communities and people involved," the company has actively contributed to the local community since its founding and aims to grow alongside the community. Currently, the company has expanded its business from real estate brokerage to include custom-built homes, condominiums, property management, asset solutions, and urban development, and is now expanding into global real estate. In 2010, the company acquired the exclusive operating rights for Sotheby's luxury real estate brokerage brand, "Sotheby's International Realty®," in Japan. In 2016, the company transitioned to holdings management and expanded into a comprehensive real estate company, offering real estate development, construction, sales, brokerage, asset/facility management, and securitization. The company is also actively expanding globally, including into Hawaii and Singapore.
Hirota: Mr. Kitami, could you start by telling us what made you fall in love with watches?
Kitami: When I first became independent in the early 1990s, I bought a Rolex Submariner, and I still own one today. Back then, I bought one a year.
Hirota: In the real estate business, can watches be a tool for gaining the trust of customers? Is that also a meaning behind having a hobby of watches?
Kitami: That's true. I'm wearing a Richard Mille today, but I don't usually wear watches like that. I wear a Rolex, and sometimes a Franck Muller.
Hirota: It's true that Rolex is probably more trustworthy in business. It's simple and sturdy. What other brands have you used since your first Rolex?
