Currently, the company has expanded its business from real estate brokerage to include custom-built homes, condominiums, property management, asset solutions, and urban development, and is now expanding into global real estate. In 2010, the company acquired the exclusive operating rights for Sotheby's luxury real estate brokerage brand, "Sotheby's International Realty®," in Japan. In 2016, the company transitioned to holdings management and expanded into a comprehensive real estate company, offering real estate development, construction, sales, brokerage, asset/facility management, and securitization. The company is also actively expanding globally, including into Hawaii and Singapore.
Hirota: There are many different styles in the real estate industry, but I feel like fewer and fewer people are thinking about sustainable business cases. Like, "It will develop the local area and we'll make a profit too." In Kitami's case, I think you're thinking about sustainability as an extension of your role as a local real estate agent.
Kitami: Our company's policy is to develop the local community while staying closely connected to it. If we are involved in the area, we want to help make it more active.
Hirota: For example, luxury watch brands place great importance on sustainability. Perhaps the watches you collect overlap in that respect as well.
