When you think of Tom Hanks, what movies come to mind? "Sleepless in the Rain," "Apollo 13," "Saving Private Ryan," "The Green Mile"... There are many that come to mind, but many people would also mention "Forrest Gump." Released in 1994, "Forrest Gump" is the film that made the then 38-year-old Hanks' presence as an actor known to the world. Recently, I heard rumors that this film is being remade as an Indian Bollywood film, and I'm now realizing just how enduring its popularity is.

Today, we'll be introducing the watch of choice for this world-famous actor, Tom Hanks. The photo was taken at a press conference at the Rome Film Festival in 2016. Focusing on his wrist as he speaks at the press conference, we can see the Timex brand logo on the military-style black dial.

Timex

Timex is a watch brand founded in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA in 1854. The model worn by Tom Hanks is part of the Waterbury collection, named after the brand's founding town, and was released in 2015. The design was created by Italian Giorgio Galli, who served as director of the Swatch Design Lab in the early 1990s and is currently the creative director of the Timex Group.

According to him, Tom Hanks has often been seen wearing Timex watches, but since he has no direct relationship with Timex, the watches are likely selected by him or his family or friends.

Timex "Waterbury"

Timex

This current model of the "Waterbury" features the same dial design as the one worn by Tom Hanks. The dial also features the Indiglo® Night-Light, a fully illuminated dial feature developed by Timex in 1992. Reference number TW2P84000. Quartz movement. Stainless steel (40mm diameter). Water resistant to 5 bar. Price: 2 yen (excluding tax).

Timex was one of the first to adopt mass production methods in order to offer high-quality products at affordable prices. It is well known that Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company, visited its predecessor, the Waterbury Clock Company. He later produced the Ford Model T for the masses and later became known as the "King of the Automobile."
Tom Hanks and Timex seem to have something in common: they were both born in America and have been loved by a wide range of people for many years. I hope they continue to deliver great works to the world.
