In my last column, I reported on the Apple Watch Series 5, and now I have the opportunity to try it out. In addition to my impressions, I will also share my impressions from my on-site interviews.
The Apple Watch Series 5 (hereinafter referred to as Series 5) retains the same appearance as the Series 4, the first full model change that further solidified the success of the product.
Furthermore, the dual-core microprocessor has the same processing power, so the so-called "performance as a computer" remains unchanged with the Series 5.
The flash memory used to store data such as music and photos, as well as apps, has been increased from 16GB to 32GB, and the addition of a new electronic compass means that new apps can be expected, but users should not notice any major changes.
Of course, as will be discussed later, the fact that the display is always on is a major advancement when considered as a wristwatch, but when looking at the series as a whole, it can be said to be within the realm of normal evolution.
Apple is well aware of this, and while keeping the dollar-based price unchanged, they have completely replaced the Series 4 with the 5, while retaining the Series 3, which is positioned as an entry-level product. The price also starts at 19,800 yen, making it more accessible.
