What kind of watches do top celebrities choose? Celebrity Watch Hunting is a series of columns that showcases private moments of celebrities from around the world. This time, we'll be introducing the watch chosen by Shingo Katori, who released his solo album "20200101 (Niwaniwa Waiwai)" on January 1, 2020!

Formerly a member of the national idol group SMAP, Katori Shingo became popular with people of all ages and genders thanks to his friendly personality. He is also known for his unique casual fashion sense, and in 2014 he released a photo book titled "Fashion Baka Shifukuhon," an admitted fashion lover.
After leaving Johnny & Associates, he stepped up his activities as an artist, and in 2018, marking 160 years of friendship between Japan and France, he held "NAKAMA des ARTS" in Paris as part of "Japonisme 2018," and in 2019 he held a solo exhibition called "BOUM!" in Tokyo. The photo we've picked out this time was taken at the departure celebration, capturing the moment he was exchanging words with designer Koshino Junko. If you look closely at his wrist, you can see the watch with a white dial. It's a Chanel "Monsieur de Chanel."
Chanel, which has been making full-fledged men's watches since the "J12" in 2000, released the "Monsieur de Chanel" in 16 as its first "men's-only watch." The dial features innovative displays such as a large 240° retrograde minute display, a small second hand, and a jumping hour display in a window shaped like the design of the perfume "Chanel No. 5." The Monsieur de Chanel has been developed into a Grand Foudial model in 18 and an all-black model with a ceramic case in 19, and is steadily establishing itself as a Chanel men's watch.

Katori Shingo is currently active in the new group "Atarashii Chizu" (New Map) with Tsuyoshi Kusanagi and Goro Inagaki. Before SMAP's disbandment, he played a wide range of roles in numerous TV dramas and films, including "Minor" in 1995, "Invisible Man" in 96, and the 2004 Taiga drama "Shinsengumi!" His everyday catchphrase "Ohaa" (Oha!) even won the "Buzzword of the Year" award. The name of his variety show "Katori Shingo's Tensei Shingo" is also nostalgic. The long-running "SmaSTATION!!" program, which ran for 16 years from 2001, is a testament to the beloved personality he enjoyed. Even after SMAP's disbandment, he continued to actively communicate with his fans on his Instagram and Twitter accounts, where he has many followers. He is scheduled to release his first solo album, "20200101 (Niwa Niwa Wai Wai)," on New Year's Day 2020. We look forward to his continued powerful activities.
